HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-02/06/1946 3 Meeting of February 6, 1946 M The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor S. Wentworth. Horton, at Greenport on Wednesday, February 6, 1946. The meeting was called to order at 1 :30 P.M. with the following present : Supervisor Horton; Justices. Terry, Hawkins , Klipp and Case; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a Committee on Audit to exarn-ine claims against the Town, doncluding the audit at 2 P.M. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read and duly ap- proved as read. Moved by Justice Hawkins , seconded by Justice Terry: RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of #3,857,12, Reimbur- sable Welfare Bills in the amount of $10:05, Non-reimbursable -,Vel- _,, fare Bills in the amount of $27.47 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Unanimously adopted. r The following Resolution was offered by Justice Case, seconded by i Justice Klipp, and was unanimously adopted. f, . WHEREAS ' Goal in His Providence has taken from us the presence of Stewart W. Horton; and WHEREAS, Stewart W. Horton served the Town of Southold as Town Trustee faithfully and efficiently for a period of years. ' Therefore Be It Resolved : That the Southold Town Board deeply mourns the _loss of thin. friend and Town Official and extends its profound sympathy to his bereaved family: Be It Further Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and he is hereby directed to spread this Resolution upon the minutes of this meeting, and he is further directed to send a copy thereof to the r" members of the vereaved family. Theresa Lindsay be and hereby is appointed part time Junior Clerk in the Supervisor 's office at a salary of $12. per week retroactive as of January 1, 1946. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Hawkins, seconded by Justic:2 Case : Resolved : That the Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby -- authorized to puurchase under Section 142 of the Highway Law from ;falter Motor Truck Co. with the approval of the County Super- intendent of Highways : one O.V.S. Moved by Justice Klipp , seconded by Justice case; Resolved : That the Town Superintendent of H,gh,.7ays is hereby authorized to purchase under Section 142 of the H ghway Law from Good Roads Machinery Co. of New York Inc . with t Te ap-- proval of the County Superintendent of H3ghwayy, one rebuilt Galion Madel 101 Diesel Motor Grader for atotal price .of 52850.00. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Terry , seconded by Justice Klipp ; Be It Resolved : That pursuant to section 142 of the Highway Law, the Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized to sell to Muir aid Arnold of East Marion, N.Y. , with the approval of the County Superintendent of Highways : one second hand clectrae Tractor " and Bulldozer for the sum of $1,200.00. Unanimously adopted. Moved by. Justice `ferry, seconded by Justice Klipp ; > Resolved : That the Supervisor be authorized to make arrangements with Vandewater, Sykes and Hecker, . Esgs., for drafting an act of. the legislature to legalize the 1945 Town Election with reference to construction and maintenance of a gargabe incineratmr as adopted by the electors , and also to provide for the establishment of a gargabe district without petition. They are to be paid not to exceed $509 for their services in that matter. It Was Further Resolved: That the Sup erviso r be authorized to retain 36 the same firm at a cost not to exceed $300. , for their services in connection with a bond issue to pay for the cost of said construction and maintenance , and to certify to the validity of said bonds. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Hawkins , seconded by Justice Klipp ; Resolved : That the reguler monthly meeting of the Town Board be held on Monday February 18, 1946, at 1 :30 P.M.
