Z on Wednesday, January 2, 1946. The meeting was called to order at 1 :30 P.M: with the following present; .Supervisor Horton; Justices Hawkins , Klipp and Case; Town Superintendent of High- , ways Price and Town Clerk Booth. ' The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine the claims against the town, , concluding the audit at 2 P.M. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly -approved as read. The resignation of Frederick Mannweiller of Southold, as Special Constable was read on motion of Justice Hawkins , seconded by Justice Klipp on roll call unanimously adopted, it was ` RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board accept with regret the �. resignation of Frederick Mannweiller as Special Constable, and express its appreciation of the faithful and efficient service rendered by Id1r. Mannweiller. •'x. It was Further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be instructed to send a copy of the resolution to Mr. Mannweiller. Moved by Justice Klipp; seconded. by Justice Hawkins : RESOLVED: That pursuant to the provisions of paragraph 1 Section 54 of the Town Law as amended by Chapter 675 of the Laws of 1935, the Supervisor shall deposit -all monies coming into his hands as such Supervisor in the -following banks : First National Bank of Greenport, Peoples National Bank of Greenport , First National Bank & Trust Company of Mattituck, First Nat. Bank of Cutchogue and Bank of Southold. Federal Deposit I:surance only Unanimously adopted. The Town Clerk resorted that all oaths of office of Town of- ficials have been filed vd�.th the County Clerk. Moved by Justice Hawkins ; Seconded by Justice Klipp : RESOLVED : That ±kK Supervisor Horton be designated to re- _ present the Town of Southold at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Towns of the State of New York to be held at Albany, N.Y. on February 20th, 21st and 22nd, 1946, and to cast the vote for the said Town of Southold and that Justice Harry Terry be designated as alternate to cast the vote for said Town in the absence of Supervisor Horton. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Hawkins , seconded by Justice Klipp : RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $2,077.20; Reim- bursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $4.00; Non-reimbursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $2.82, be and the same is hereby ordered paid. Unanimously adopted. -- Moved by Justice Case , seconded by Justice Hawkins : RESOLVED: That Bond NA. 1S113 258 of the Stna Casualty and Surety Co. for Supervisor S. Wentworth Horton, Bond No. 1S113 223 of The Etna Casualty and Surety Co. for Justice of the Peace 33, Norman E. Klipp , Bond No. 1 S113251 of the Etna Casualty and Surety Co. for Supt. of Highways Harold D. Price, be and . the same are hereby approved as to form and sufficiency of Surety. Booth, be.,--.-and he is hereby appointed to serve as Registrar of Vital Statistics for a term of two -� years. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Hawkins ; seconded by. Justice Case : Resolved : That the following be and are hereby appointed -' by the Southold- Town Board to the positions and at Salaries formally paid. Town Attorney George C. Terry; Constables : Chief Otto L. Anrig, Antone Chituk, James P. Kelly, George ' G. Wetmore and Henry Y. King. Special Constable on Fishers -F Island, A.J. Gada , School Traffic Officers : Frank D. Coyne , Harry Gehring, Howard Overton. Desk duty at Town Police Office, John L. Muir, Special Constable , Egbert Brown. -"" Eloise Bowden-, Clerk to Board of Assessors. Archie Iff. Symondq Welfare Officer. Moved by Justice Case; seconded by Justi(fe Klipp : RESOLVED: That The Supervisor be and he is hereby authorized, to employ a clerk at an annual salary of $1500. The Supervisor then appointed Miss Ella L. Phillips. Unanimously adopted. Fixed salaries of Town Officials are as follows : Supervisor, $4,000. , Town G1erk $p2,.000g, Five Justices of the Peace, at an annual salary of $1,.200. .each;. Superintendent of Highways , j3,500. ; Glerk to Supt. of Highway, $600; Six Assessors at an annual salary of $1,200. each; .R'ec e iver of Taxes $1;500. . Moved by . Justice Hawkins , seconded by Justice Case : RES01VED: That all Salaries of Town Officials of prior audit be paid monthly by the Supervisor, except Highway employees . Unanimously adopted. The contract for the. Mattituck #2 Lighting District was signed by ti^ the Town Board, this is a renewal of the old contract and expires . on Dec. 6, 1950. A Public Hearing will be held by the Southold Town Board at the _ . Supervisor 's Office on Friday, January 18, 1946, at two o'clock, P.M. on the mattgr of the purchase of a new galion motor grader to be used by the H;ghway Department at a total cost not to exceed 6,000. Also for, the purchase of an A.V.6 Off'sdt Center V. Frink Snow Plow to be used in the Highway Department for a total cost not to exceed $900. Moved by Justice Hawkins ; seconded by Justice Kipp. WHEREAS, God in His Providence has taken from us the presence of Oscar B. Robinson: and WHEREAS, 'Oscar B. R-obinson served the Town of Southold as Justice of the Peace faithfully and efficiently for two terms. Therefore Be It Resolved : That- the Southold Town Board deeply mourns the passing of this friend and f orro r Town Official and ex- tends its profound sympathy to his bereaved family. Be It. Further Resolved : That the Town Clerk be and he is hereby directed to spread this Resolution upon the minutes of this meet- ing and he is fuither directed to send a copy t:zereof to the members of the bereaved family,; Moved by Justice Case ; seconded by Justice Hawkins : RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board purchase the property assessed in the name of Felix and Altha Dziemboski, situate at Pec onic, N.Y. for ' a purchase price of $61.000. This property is located on Peconic „ . Lane adjolrning the property of the Southold Town Highway Department. Be It Further Resolved : That the Town Superintendent of Highways be authorized to sign the contract. Unanimously 'adopted. Adjournment, was at 3 :45 P.M. r - Ralph P. Booth Town Clerk Meeting o,f January 18, 1946 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor S. Wentworth Horton, at Greenport , on Friday January 19 , 1946. The meeting was called to order at 1 :30 P.M. with . the following present : - Supervisor Horton, Jjistices Hawkins & Kl.ipp; Town Superintendent of Highways ; Price, Town Attorney Terry and Town Gle:rk Booth. `¢ As there was not a q_uorium present , the Board could not transact any business except the Hearing on the matter of purchasing machinery for the Highway Department , which could be held as the Superintendent of Highways has a vote with the Town Board on all highway matters. The Hearing on the matter of purchasing machinery for the Town r Highway Dept. was duly opened at 2 P.M. No person appeared- be- fore the Board to speak against the items mentioned in the - . legal notice published in the_ Town newspapers . The hearing was closed at 2 :10 P.M.
