MEETIINGt-90F SEPTEMBER 301 1952.
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Dorman E. Rlipp
at Greenport, on Tuesda:, September. 30, 1952. The meeting was called to
order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices
Terry, Tuthill , Albertson and Clark; Town `'uperintendent of Highways ,
Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are duly*. -
approved as read. I ':
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill,
Albertson and. Clark.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board beheld
at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday,
October 7, 1952, at 1:30 P.M. Z

Albertson and Clark. "
The Town Clerk presented to the Town Board detailed estimates of revenues
and expenditures from the various officers and special districts for the
next fiscal year.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Rensselaer G. Terry, Jr. , Town .Attorney, be and he hereby
is authorized to attend a seminar in Albany, New York, on October 29 19527
in relation to the organization, administration and enforcement of the
Multiple Resident Law, and be it further
RESOLVED: That Rensselaer G. Terry, Jr. , be reimbursed for his necessary
and actual expenses incurred while attending such seminar. 1

Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson:
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request
the Long Island Li hting Company to remove the aerial street light and
fixture from pole �27 and replace it on pole #26 on Bridge Lane, East
Cutchogue, in the Peconic Lighting District.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by 'justice Terry; seconded' By Justice Albertson:
RESOLVED: That Philip Weiler be and hereby is appointed as Fire Department
Inspector for the Orient Fire Districtsas requested' by the Commissioners
of such District under date of September 15, 1952, to serve in such cap-
acity until January 1, 1953 , in accordance with Article 8, Section 303 , -
Subdivision 4 of the Multiple Resident Law, and be it further
RESOLVED_: That -_hilip Weiler serve in such capacity without compensation, .a,.
and be it further
RESOLVED: That this appointment take effect as of September 30, 1952.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.

RESOLVED: That the Town of Southold adopt the schedule of fees for build-
ing permits under the Multiple Resident Law.

Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill,

•^ A communication was read from Albert Luce, of Orient, requesting the
Town Board to have aerial street lights installed on Oyster Ponds Lane.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Justice Terry be and hereby is appointed a committee of
one to ascertain the number of street lights and the m�gtmber on the poles
which these street lights are to be placed on Oyster Ponds Lane.
- Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
u RESOLVED: That effective as of September 20, 1952, Elmer Quarty be
and hereby is classified as Watchman, permanent, at a salary of Seven
• Dollars and Fifty Cents (67. 50) per day.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, tuthill,

A communication was read from Burn6tt F. Tuthill stating that due to
extra duties at the School,he is tending his resignation as School
Traffic Officer at the East Cutchogue School, effective as of September
25, 1952.

RESOLVED: That the resignation of ''urnett F. Tuthill as School Traffic
`• - Officer, at the East Cutchogue School, be accepted with regret, effective
as of September 25, 1952, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be directed to forward a -letter of
+r commendation to Mr. Tuthill.

RESOLVED: That J. Earle Timpson of Cutchogue, be and he hereby is appoint-
ed School Traffic Officer to direct traffic at the East Cutchogue School
crossing at a salary of Four Dollars ($4.00) per day, for each school
day worked, effective as of October 6 , 19 52, 'he to serve at the pleasure
-.Y- of the Board.

and Clark.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That E. Perry Edwards , Justice of the Peace , be and hereby
is authorized to attend a demonstvation of the land-filled method of
garbage disposal, to be held at Manchester, Connecticut, on Friday,
September 19, 1952, and be it further
,. RESOLVED: That the necessary expenses incurred by Justice Edwards be
a legal charge against the Town, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the amount expended be charged back against the Fishers
' Island Garbage and Refuse District after the District has raised money
by taxation for the operation of such District.

Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson:
RESOLVED: 'That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request
the Long Island Lighting Company to install two additional aerial street < ,
lights in the Orient Lighting District, said lights to be placed on
pole #3-5, and pole #7, on Main Street in Orient.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill,
Albel-tson and Clark. Y
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson:
WHEREAS, Oscar Goldin has commenced a proceeding against the Board of
Assessors of the Town of Southold for the Review of the Assessment �!
of certain real property in the Town, and
WHEREAS, said Board of Assessors has determined that such assessment
was proper and that said proceeding is unwarranted and should be
vigorously opposed to the end,that such assessment should be upheld
by the court,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That Rensselaer G. Terry, Jr. , the Town "
Attorney, be and he hereby is authorized and directed to take such �.
steps as he may deem necessary in order to properly oppose and defend
such proceeding , including,without limitations , the obtaining of
special counc6l, expert witnesses, surveys and engineering, and the incurring of of such additional'+expenses as he shall deem necessary and
proper.
