The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Dorman E. ' Kliph
at Greenport, on Tuesday, September 9, 1952. The meeting was called to
Y order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices
Terry, Tuthill , Albertson and Clark; Town Superintendent of-Highways
Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.

The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims
against-1 the Town, concluding the audit work at 2:1 5 P.M.
Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the two previous meetings be and hereby
are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark:
" RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held at
r the office of the Supervisor at Greenport, on Tuesday, September 30,
1952, at 1:30 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill ,
Albertson and Clark.
7 Halsey Brown appeared before the Board representing Edna Brown and
Sam Levine , requesting the Board to take over a proposed highway through
their property at Greenport. The Board stated they would view same and
if it complies with the Town Highway Specifications they would consider
taking it over as a public highway.
Otto W. VanTuyl appeared before the Board with a map of Westphalia
• Corporation, at I`'lattituck, requesting the Board to take over harborview
Avenue and East Side Avenue as public highways. The Board stated they
would view same and when they comply with the Town Highway Specifications
they would consider taking them over as public highways.
Russell L. Davison appeared before the Board, representing the Richmond
Creek Property Owners Association. This group is composed of taxpayers
who own property fronting on Richmond' s Creek and also those who own
property on Peconic Bay at the mouth of that creek.
He stated that conditions on the creek had been getting steadily worse
ever since the hurricane of 1938, at which time several of the mouths
• of the creek had been closed by the storm.
He stated that the Association has decided to open several of the mouths
of the creek which formerly existed. They have obtained permission of
Dr. Havens Emerson and of Mrs. Julia Bell, on whose property the dredging
r will be done. They have agreed to contribute toward the cost of the engin-
eering and the dredging and asked the Town Board to cooperate in the
dredging.

RESOLVED: That for the purpose of protecting town property at the term-
inus of South Harbor Road and improving the water courses of Richmond ' s
L� + Creek, . the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized to expend a sum of
money in part payment of the cost of the emgineering and dredging, upon
receipt of properly acknowledged written consents from the property owners,
said payment to be not more than one-half of the total cost and in no
,. , event to exceed the sum of $475.00.

RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor, be and hereby is authorized
to take the necessary steps, for the Town of Southold to become a member
of the Long Island Association.
Vote of Town- Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.

RESOLVED: That Frank S. Dawson of New Suffolk, be and hereby is appointed,
subject to the written approval of the District Superintendent of Schools ,
' Attendance Supervisor of all schools throughout the Town except such schools
as are otherwise provided for by Section 3213 of the Education Law, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That, such Attendance Supervisor shall be re-
movable at the pleasure of the District Superintendent of Schools, and
BE IT •FURTHER RESOLVED: That the compensation of such Attendance
Supervisor be fixed at. $800.00 per year, payable in regular month-
ly installments , he to _pay his own expenses , and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is instruct-
ed to notify Frank S. Dawson and The District Superintendent of Schools K
of this appointment, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such
certificate with the proper parties as are required by Section 30,'
Sub-division 3 , of the Town Law, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this appointment is made retroactive to _
August 1, 1952.

WHEREAS, it has been requested by the Board of Commissioners of the
Fishers Island Ferry District, in accordance with a resolution adopted
by such Commissioners at a meeting of the Fishers Island Ferry District
held on August 20, 19521
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Manager of the Fishers Island
Ferry District be given an,-,,annual increment of One Hundred Dollars
($100.00) per, year, effective as of August 1, 1952, and annually
thereafter upon efficient performance of duties by the Manager, until
a maximum salary of Four Thousand Five hundred Dollars ($4, 500.00)
per year is reached.
