HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-08/07/1952 4,3 A petition was received signed by 28 residents residing within a 25 mile radius of Plum Island opposing the method and way the meeting was called and held on guly 17th in the Greenport High School, in y reference to the laboratory for combating foot and mouth disease , requesting that before any further action is taken that a public hearing be held and conducted by Township Officials so that a correct � poll of residents in this area can be obtained on this matter. It was laid on the table for future consideration. A petition was received from residents of Founders Path, Southold, requesting the Town Board to have signs erected on said Founders Path, restricting speed limit to 25 M.P.H. The Superintendent of Highways was directed .to erect the above mentioned signs. Adjournment was at 5: 50 P. M. Ralph P. Booth Town Clerk h• ;a MEETING OF AUGUST 7, 1952 A special meeting ofthe Southold Town Board was held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport' on Thursday, August 7, 1952. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the follow- . ing present: Supervisor Klipp; `'ustices Terry, Tuthill and Albertson; . Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. ~� The purpose of this meeting was to act on the order establishing the Fishers Island Refuse and Garbage District. Moved by Justice Tuthill;seconded by Justice Terry: BEFORE THE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN 'OF SOUTHOLD, SUFFOLK COUNTY, NEW YORK. In the Matter of The establishment of the Hishers " h Island Refuse and Garbage District *ORDER ESTABLISHING DISTRICT in the Town of Southold, County of Suffolk, New York. A petition in this matter for the creation of a refuse and garbage district having been duly presented to the Town Board, and an order having been duly adopted by the Town Board on March llth, 1952, for the hearing of all persons interested intthe matter on the 4th day of April , 1952, at 9:30 o 'clock in the forenoon of that day at the Fishers Island Schoolhouse at Fishers Island, New York, and a hearing >. by the said Board having been duly held at such time and place, aryl it having been duly resolved and determined following such hearing that the petition herein was signed and acknowledged or proved as required by law and otherwise sufficient , that all the property and property owners within the proposed district were benefited thereby, that all property and property owners benefited were included within the limits of the proposed district, and that it was in public interest to rant in whole the relief sought, and it having been then and there further duly resolved that the establishment of such district as proposed be approved, and application having been thereafter and on April 12th, 1952, duly made in duplicate to the State Department of Audit and Control at Albany, New York, for per- mission to create such district as m ore fully provided for by Town Law' Section 194, and the State Comptroller having duly made an order in duplicate, dated August 4th, 1952, granting permission for the creation of the district in .all respects as petitioned for and approved by the Town Board as aforesaid; and one copy of such order having been duly filed in the office of the State Departmentof Audit 1. and Control at Albany, New York, and the other in the office of the Town Clem of this Town, and the Town Clerk having duly presented such order to this Board at this meeting, being its first meeting . r held after the said order was filed with him; it is hereby ORDERED, that a refuse and garbage district be established in the said Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, as described in > the order of the State Comptroller aforesaid, to be designated as the Fishers island Refuse and Garbage District of the Town of 438 Southold and to be of the following description and boundaries , to wit:- All the real property of Fishers Island, in the Town of South- old, County of Suffolk and State of Newm� k, inclusive of the whole of Fishers Island, with the exception of certain parcels which are the -property of the United States Government, said tracts being known as "Fort H. G. Wright" , "Mount Prospect" , "Wilderness Point"and "Coast Guard Station No. 59" , all as shown on Map accompanying the petition, said territory being bounded and described as follows: On the North by Fishers4Sound; on the east by Block Island Sound; on the South by Block Island Sound and U. S. Government Reservations; on the West by Fort H. G. Wright, U. S. Military Reservations; and f. Block Island Sound. Dated: August 7th, 1952. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Norman E.
