HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-07/08/1952 MEETING OF JULY 81 1952 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, July 8, 1952. The meeting was called ' to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: SupervisorKlipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; Town Superintendent f Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims against the Town, concluding the audit work at 2 P.M. V Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby ' are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. � - Moved by Justice. Terry; seconded by Justice Clark: ' RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held at T the office of the Supervisor at Greenport, on Tuesday, July 29, 1952 at 1:30 P.M. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp'; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That Ronald G. Schmidt of Peconic, New York, be and hereby is appointed as Life Guard , to serve in such capacity at the `'outhold ti. Town Bathing Beach, and be it further RESOLVED: That Ronald G. Schmidt be compensated for such position ;r in the amount of Thirty-five Dollars ($3 5.00) per week, Payable,-,.in regular monthly payments , and be it further RESOLVED: That this appointment take effect as of .July 2, 1952. "= Moved By Justice glark; seconded by Justice Albertson: Whereas , the United States Department of Agriculture announced that itli-is their intention to establish a hoof and mouth disease laboratory on Plum Island THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That this Town Board goes on record as ■ opposing the establisl}ment of a laboratory on Plum Island, Town of Southold, N.Y, for research on hoof and mouth disease. The Town Board + feels that it would be to the best interests of the population of " ✓t= the Town of Southold that said laboratory be not located on Plum Island. : Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, �- Albertson and Clark. X. Mr. William Hagen, President of the Old Town Arts and Crafts Guild stated they would like the antique secretary which was the first desk the Town owned, to place in their building ak Cutchogue. RESOLVED: That the bouthold Town Board does hereby give th the Old Town Arts and grafts Guild the care and custody of above mentioned Antique Secretary. _T Vote of Town Board: .Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, luthill, Albertson and Clark. o ? Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; and Town Supt. of �r Highways Price. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by tustice Tp.t4ill: RESOLVED: That the following persons be and hereby are appointed as Fire Department Inspectors in their respective Fire Departments , to serve in such capacity until January 1, 1953, in accordance with -Article 8, Oection 303 , Subdivision 4 of the Multiple Residence taw:- Chester L. Ketcham, East Marion George ff. Stelzer, Southold Stanley B... Ambroski, Cutchogue Norman . Boughton, Mattituck and be it further RESOLVED: That the above mentioned persons serve in such capacity without compensation, and be it further RESOLVED: That these appointments take effect as of July 1, 1952. Moved by Justice Albertson,;' seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: -That the Street ighting Contract between the Town of Southold and the Long island Lighting Company, covering the Southold Lighting District for a period of five ( 5} years , beginning with the 8th day of July, 1952, and terminating on the 8th day of July, 1957, be and the same is hereby approved by the Town Board. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor l�lipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: -That General Bills in the sum of $3601.61, Lighting Bills ' v in the sum of $1337. 50, Fishers Island FerryDistrict Bills in the sum of $7834.19, Town Trustee Account in the sum of $20.00, . be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
