MEETING OF JUNE 10, 1952
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E.
Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, tune 10, 1952. The meeting was
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present:.. Supervisor
Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; Town Superin-
tendent of Highway Price; Town Attorney Terry- and Town Clerk Booth.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson.-
RESOLVED: -That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby
are duly approved as read. r
Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor nlipp; Justices Terry, .Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by 'justice Albertson; seconded by Justice' Clark:
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board be
held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on
Tuesday, July 8, 1952, at 1:30 P.M. .

RESOLVED: That Dorman E. Klipp, Supervisor, be and hereby is author-
ized to meet with the Insurance Agents now writing insurance policies
for the Town of Southold and arrange to have the town .insurance written
by one agency on a fleet policy basis.

RESOLVED:. That Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor' be and hereby is author-
ized to arrange for the services of a, Life Guard to be stationed
at the Town Beach for the summer season of 1952. The salary for
such services shall be Thirty-five Dollars ($3 5.00) per week. '

WHEREAS , it becomes mandatory under Section 303 of the Multiple
Resident taw that a Building Inspector be appointed by July 1, 19529
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ,IT RESOLVED: That Edwin S. Conklin be -and hereby w
is appointed Building Inspector for the Town of Southold Until January �.
19 1953, and be it further
RESOLVED: That Edwin S. Conklin be compensated for such services in
the sum of Eighty-five Dollars ($85.00) per month, payable each and
every .month,. and be it further
RESOLVED: That thi's . appointment take effect as of Ouly 1, 19529 and
be it further
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certificate
with the proper parties as are required by Section 309Subdivision 3
of the Town Law.

WHEREAS, there is an apparent lack of seed oysters in' this vicinity, h
which is detrimental to our oyster industries, and �.
WHEREAS, the oyster industries throughout the Township Contribute
largely through their _payrolls towards the support of many local res-
idents, which in turn contribute to the wellbeing of the Township r
at large, and
WHEREAS, George Vanderborgh & Son of Sayville, New York, have indicated '
that it is their desire to experiment with the cultivation of seed
oysters and are desirous of leasing the land under water in Downs
Creek in the' Town of Southold for such purpose,, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this Town Board that if such exper-
iment is successful it would contribute materially towards the con- ,
tinuance of the oyster industries and would be for the best interests
of the Town, � .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That this Town Board recommend to the
Town Trustees of the Town of Jouthold That they lease any or all of
the - land under water in Downs Creek to George Vanderborgh & Son under
such conditions and terms and for such period of time as they deem
necessary.

WHEREAS, it has been requested by the Manager of the Fishers Island
Ferry District that the Purser and the Manager of the District be
~' compensated on a semi-monthly basis rather than on a monthly basis,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
.. ? That beginning July 1, 1952, the Purser and the Manager of the Fishers
Island Ferry District will be paid on a semi-monthly basis; one half
of the monthly salary payable on the first of the month, the remaining .
half payable on':the 15th.

RESOLVED: That General Bills in the sum of $2586, 50, Lighting Bills
.� in the sum of $1473.60, Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the um.
of $7177. 52, be and the same are hereby ordered paid.

RESOLVED: That the Police Report for the months of April and May be
accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That the Street Lighting Contract between the Town of Southold
and the Long Island Lighting Company, covering the Orient Lighting Dis-
trict for a period of five ( 5) years, beginning with the first day of
>.' July, 1952, and terminating on the first day of uly, 1957, be and the
same is hereby approved by the Town Board.
