MEETING OF MARCH 119 1952
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E.
Klipp, at Greenport, on Tuesday, March 11, 1952. The meeting was {
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: - Superv&sor _ -
Klipp; Justices Terry luthill and Clark; Town Superintendent of
Highways Price; Town Ittorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee- on audit .to examine claims
against the Town, concluding the . audit work at 2 o'clock P.M.
The minutes of the two previous meetings were read and were duly
approved as read.
At 2 o'clock P.M. in accordance with a notice published accord-
ing to Law, bids were 'opened forproposals 'to furnish the Town
of Southold three 2-door sedan standard model automobiles for use
as Police cars.

WHEREAS the lowest bid was submitted by the Greenport Auto Sales,
NOW, THREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and hereby "'-
is directed to enter into , a contract with the Greenport Auto Sales;
for the purchase of three 2-door sedan standard model automobiles
at a total price of $3834.21, delivery to''be made within ninety days. , '~\`

RESOLVED: That Bond No. ls-117-536 issued by The Aetna Casualty f
and Surety Company in the sum of $2,000.00, on behalf of Theresa
A. Lindsay, be and the same is hereby approved as to its form,
sum, manner of execution and sufficiency of surety therein.

Tuthill and Clark.
-The hearing on the matter of purchasing machinery for the Town
Highway Depattment, which was advertised in accordance of Section
142 of the Highway Law, was duly '*opened at 2:30 o'clock P.M. �~
? No person- appeared before .the Board to Speak either .for or against
the item mentioned in the legal notice. The hearing was duly closed
at .3 o 'clock P.M.,

WHEREAS the Town Superintendent of highways did on the. 11th day of
March ,., 1952, duly recommend the purchase of -certain machinery
pursuant', to the provisions of Section 142. -of the Highway 'Law, and
a notice of such recommendation has,, been duly published as provided
in such section. r.
NOW THEREFORE BE .IT RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 142 of the
Highway Law the Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized
to purchase from Edward Ehrbar Inc, with the approval , of. the County -
Superintendent of Highways: One Hough Pavloader, Model H. M.
with one and one half yard bucket four wheel drive and power steer._ .
for a total of eleven thousand- seven hundred twenty-five' "dollars ' , r
($119 725.00) , 'delivered at feconic, L,'I. *••New 'York, 'and .to be ,TM
delivered, on er about karch`15, 1952.
The terms' of payment will be as follows: �•

A contract of purchase.-for the item purchased shall be..duly executed
between the Town Superintendent of Highways and such. vendor, and -- �
when duly approved. by the.-County Superintendent of Highways, it shall

the Supervisor is authorized to complete such -purchase.-upon delivery of

the item purchased in accordance with the terms of such",,,resolution
and such contract, and to pay the above amount specified'-,to be
paid by checks
N (1) by a check drawn on the Machinery Fund (Item 3) $'69725.00
(2) by a , cheek in the amount of$5,000.00-i- drawn on the account
established from the proceeds of obligations to be issued pursuant
to the Local Finance Law to finance such purchase. Such obligations
will be authorized to be issued by this Board by a separate resolution.
If this Board subsequently decides to issue bonds to finance such-`.
purchase, the Value of the above item traded in toward -the purchase
price shall be considered as a down- payment required by Section
107.00 of the Local Finance Law.

CAPITAL NOTE RESOLUTION OF MARCH 11, 1952. OF THE TOWN OF SOUTHOLD
OF SUFFOLK COUNTY, ' NEW YORK, IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000.00.
�.r THAT WHEREAS . the Town Board of the Town of Southold, New York,
after due public notice, by a resolution duly adopted on March 111
1952, authorized the Town Superintendent of Highways to purchase
certain machinery for highway construction and maintenance at a
1 total cost of,411 2 .00 subject. to the approval of the County
Superintendent of laighways and provided that $5,000.00 of such
cost was to 'be paid from the proceeds of obligations to be issued
pursuant to Local Finance .-Law, .
WHEREAS a contract of purchase for such machinery was duly entered
' t into by the Town Superintendent of Highways on March 12, 1952
' which contract has been duly approved by the County Superintendent
of Highways,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1'. That, the specific object or purpose for which a capital note is
1 ` to be issued pursuant to this resolution is .to finance a part of the
� cost of certain machinery known as; =
One Hough Payloader model H.M. with one and one
half yard bucket, with four wheel drive and power
;.l steer. The total cost of this machine is J11,725.00
and the plan of financing such cost is as follows:
By a check drawn from the Machinery fund, of 6 2 .00;
�- The balance of the cost is to be .provided from the proceeds
of a capital note in ihe'. amouni -of '$53000.009 pursuant
to this. resolution.
v 2. The following determinations are hereby made;. -
,(A) The period of probable usefulness of this rnachihe

(C) The proposed maturity of the obligation authorized

per centum per annum, as may be determined by the Town. .

5. The full faith and credit of the Town of Southold, New `York? are pledged to the punctual payment of principal

6. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
THE QUESTION OF THE ADOPTION OF THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION WAS DULY

RESOLVED: That Elmer K. Quarty be and hereby is appointed Watchman
to serve in such capacity at the Southold Town Police Headquarters,
and be it further
RESOLVED: That Eliber K. Quarty, be compensated for such services at _
the rate of Seven Dollars ($7.00) per diem, payable in regular bi-
weekly payments, and be it further
RESOLVED: That this appointment take effect March 22, 1952.

ers, U.S.Army, New York District,
for the leasing of the airfield and hangar building No. 254 and
buildings No. T-365 and 127 located at Fort H.G.Wright, Fishers
Island, New York, for a term from January 1,, 1952 to December 31 1 2 7

in advance.

County, New York, for the establishment of a Refuse and Garbage
District in the said Town, to be described as follows:
