Meeting of October 5, 1945
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor . Ventworth
Horton- at Greenport , on Friday, October 5, 1945. The meeting was
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present : Super-
visor H rton; Justices Terry; Hawkins ; Klipp and Case; Town Super-
intendeRt of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk
Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims
against the Town, concluding the audit at 2 P.M. The minutes
,. of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read.
Moved by Justice Hawkins ; seconded by Justice Case :
Resolved : That General Bills in the amount of $1,783.65, Reimbur-
sable Welfare Bills in the amount of $2.05, Non-reimbursable ,Jel-
�" fare Bills in the amount of $22.81 be and the same is hereby ordered,
Y• paid.
Unanimously adopted.
.�+ A letter was read from the' Gounty Treasurer asking whether there is
` any objection on the part of the Town Board to satisfying the bond
of the Receiver of Taxes.
re Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Klipp :
Resolved: That the Town Glerk be and he is hereby instructed to
notify the County Treasurer that there is no objection on the part of
the Southold Town Board to the sat.ifcation of the bond of. the Receiver
of Taxes.

_ A letter was read from the Board of Assessors requesting an increase
in salaries . Walter Grabie and Kenneth Monsell ap
peared eared before the
-- Town Board on behalf of the assessors . The matter was discussed and
laid on the table for future consideration and discussion.
Moved by Justice ; seconded by Justice Klipp :
Resolved: That the Town Board does hereby prepare and approve as the
preliminary budget of this Town for the fiscal year beginning on the
1st day of January, 1946, the itemized statement of estimated revenues
and expenditures hereto attached and made a part of this resolution,
and be it Further Resolved, that this Board shall meet at 2 O 'clock
P.M. on the 7th day of November, 1945, for the purpose of holding a
public hearing upon such preliminary budget and be it
Further Resolved: That the Town Clerk give notice ,of such public
hearing in the manner provided in Section 113 of the Town Law.

Unanimously adopted.
A Public Hearing will be held by the Town Ba- rd of the Town of Southold
at the Supervisor 's Office in Green1lort, L.I. , on Wednesday October
~ 17, 1945, at two o *clock in the afternnon on the matter of the purchase
^• of a new P. & H. Truck Crane to replace the old Crane now used by the
Highway Department for a sum not to exceed 15,000.00 with a trade-
in allowance of $4,000600 on the old machine.
{� Also for the purchase of a new Caterpillar Diesel. D 7 Tractor to
replace a Caterpillar 60 tractor to be used by the Highway Departm(bnt
Yw of the Town.' of Southold,, for a sum not -to exceed $9,000.00 with a trade-
in allowance on old tractor of $500.00.
Moved by Justice Case ; seconded by Justice- Terry :
Resolved : That the next meeting of the Town Board be held at the
office of the Supervisor on Wednesday, October 17 , 1945, at 1:30 P.M.
and the Public Hearing on the matter of purchasing machinery for the
Highway Dept. be held at 2 P.M. f
Unanimously adopted.
