The Planning Board feels the performance bond for the con- struction of the highways should be in the amount of $11,000, which is sl ightly, over 50% in excess of the cost of estimate, which includes four leaching basins, as recommended by our engineer Lawrence Tuthill. This bond must be issued by a company that is licensed to do business in the State of Now York. Further action will be taken upon receipt of the required bona. Re: Hilton Heights Dear Mr. Chairman There are two estimates for the construction of the roads of Hilton Heights, Southold by Mr. Dillenbeck, the engineer for Mr. Hilton Epp. One is a detailed take-off of the quantities for the construction of the reads as shown on the plans submitted to the Planing Board, this being estimated to cost :$3,800.00. The other estimate is very general based on a balance of cut and fills in the grading of the roads at an estimated cost of 42,400.00. I agree with the figure of $3,800.00 as an estimated cost for the construction of the roads as shown on the drawings submitted. It is my opinion that there should also be 4 leaching basins, two at the junction of Hilton Road and North Road to Bayview, and two at junction of Hilton Road and the right of way at Mallgraf's property. Each of leaching basin is estimated to cost ��800.00. The bond for the roads should be based on an increase of 20% over present day costs for the general rise in construction costs. This 20% is based on the rise in cost of construction over the last 10 year period of 70 o. An additional amount of 10% should be added for administration expenses if then should be a default.
