FISHERS ISLAND
The annual Fishers Island meeting of the Southold Town Board was
held on Tuesday, August 24, 1965. The meeting was Yield in the-*aud-
itorium of the Fishers Island High School and was called .to order
by Supervisor Lester M. Albertson at 1:30 P.M. with the following
present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen ,Demarest and Valentine;
Justices Clark, 'Tuthill and Edwards; Supt., of Highways Price',;
Town Attorney Tasker; Town Clerk Richmond; . Officials of the State,
County and Town, and guests and residents of Fishers Island.
Supervisor' Albertson introduced all the State, County and Town
officials and the guests who attended the meeting.
Bond No. 56-77-234 of $12,000.00 was received from H.J.S. and J.M.S.
Land and Development Corporation for, completion of roads, install-
ation of water mains and improvements in the Subdivision "EASTERN
SNORES-Section
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill;
RESOLVED: That the reading of the minutes of the last meeting
held on August 17, 19651 be dispensed with at this meeting.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and' Valentine;. Justices Tuthill, .Clark and Edwards. "

WHEREAS, Southold Town Planning Board has prepared an official
report and recommendation upon the petition of A. John Gada for a
Change of zone from "All' Residential and Agrieultural .Distxict
to "M-1" Multiple Residence District on certain property_ on
Fishers Island, New York,
NOW,, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held
by the Southold Town Board at the Fishers Island Fire House, Fishers
Island, New York,. on Friday, September, 17, 1965 at 2: OOPPL-IM. on
the above mentioned petition and that the Town Clerk be and. he
hereby is authorized and directed to cause a notice of said hearing
to be published in the` Suffolk Times pursuant to the' requir,ements
of law.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Tuthill, Clark and 'Edwards.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; secoided 'by Justice Clark;
WHEREAS, this Board deems it in the best interest. of the Town of
Southold that an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance Regulating the
Taking and the Manner of Taking Shellfish in the Town of Southold;
be adopted, and
WHEREAS, an error was" made in the advertisement of said Ordinance
by not stating the place where the hearing will be held,
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED: That A public hearing will be held
by the Town Board of the Town of Southold at the Supervisor' s Office,
16 South Street, Greenport, New York, on the 17th day of September,
1965, at 7a30 o'clock P.M. on the matter of the enactment of the
following ordinance, to wit:- (See Page 132 - copy of said ordinance.)
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
Moved by Justice Edwards; seconded by Councilman Valentine:
RESOLVED: That the Supervisor, Lester M. Albertson, be and he here-
by is authorized to communicate with the State Traffic Commission
and request a 30 mile per hour speed limit on all town roads on
Fishers Island, New York.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.

Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice. Clark;
. RESOLVED:- '.That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed. to request
the Long Island 'Lighting Company to remove one (1) light on pole
No. 3J NYTCO which. was requested Feb. 8, 1965 and .place a 100 cp
street light on NYTCO pole # 31 on Con' s Lane, Cutchogue, New York,
in the Cutchogue Light District.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine, Justices Tuthill, Clark and Edwards.
Supervisor Albertson asked if anyone wished to discuss anything
With the Town Board. The following subjects were 'discussed:
STOP and YIELD Signs
30 MPH speed limits on Fishers Island
Lobster fishing in the New York State waters
.Sound Bridge- and
control, of Garbage dumped in waters.
-Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
WHEREAS, Mattituck Estates, Inc. has filed with the Planning Board
a subdivisionkcovering property at Mattituck, New York, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Board, as�'condition to the approval of said
plot, has required that the streets on said plot shall be improved
and- surfaced in accordance with the specifications' cE the Town of
Southold, and has also required that the developers of said plot
construct a dam and/or dike on premises adjacent to said .subdivision
and used for surface drainage, and
WHEREAS, the Town has estimated that the cost of said `improvement's
will be approximately $30, 000.00, and in lieu of making such improve-
ments, has required a performance bond in the- amount of $35, 000.00,
and
WHEREAS, the developer, in lieu of filing said performance bond, has
agreed to deposit with the Town cash in the amount of $35, 000.00 in
the form of a passbook from the North Fork Bank and Trust Company,
Mattituck, New York, in this amount with a withdrawal slip properly
executed by the owner 'of said account in favor of the Town of Southold,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the' Town accept said passbook
together with said withdrawal slip properly executed in favor' of
the Town of Southold, upon the condition that if said developer fails
to make the improvements required by, the Planning Board* within' three
(3) years- from the date hereof, the Town shall have the might to
enter upon said premises and to complete said. improvements. and to
withdraw the funds .in said account, or so much thereof as may be
required' for the payment of such improvements, and in` the -event that
said developer makes said improvements within said period of time,
then the Town of Southold shall forthwith-'release said passbook and
withdrawal slip to the developer.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest,
and Valentine; Justices Tuthill; Clark and Edwards.
Adjournment was at 2: 20 o'clock P.M.
At the close of the meeting all were invited at the Legion Hall for
alight lunch and :coffee which weresserved by the ladies of Fishers
Island, A-ri-sing vote of thanks was given to the ladies for their
kind hospitality. ;
