Albertson, 16^.South Street, Greenport, N.Y. on March 7 , 1967 at 3 :00 P.M. The meeting was called -to order with the following present: Super- visor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker; Supt. of Highways and Town Clerk Richmond. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That the minutes of February 14, 1967 be and they hereby are approved. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; .Councilmen' Demarest' 'and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. M oved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That the Supt. of Highways of the Town of Southold be auth- orized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest respons- ible bidder, one '(1) new 1967 Tilt Type Trailer. Doroski, Middle Road, Southold, N.Y. requesting a change of zone of certain property in' Southold, N.Y. described in said petition from "A" Residential and Agriculural District to "B" Bisiness District, NOW, . THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk' of the Town of Southold be and he hereby is directed to transmit 'this application to the Planning Board in ac,cor6ance with Section 901, Subdivision C of Article IX of the Building Zone Ordinance of the. Moved by ,Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That a ,Capital Note for $59, 000. 00 be approved providing a favorable vote for proposed property for a future Town Hall is approved at a vote of the people on April 14, 1967 . Barzac Jr. and Liza Barzac, Boisseau .Avenue, Southold, N.Y. requesting a change of zone of certain property in Southold, N.Y. described in said petition from "A" Residential and Agricult-i.Ara1 District to "B-2 " Business District, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town of South- old be and he hereby is directed to transmit this application to the . Planning Board in accordance .with Section . 901,. Subdivision C of Article IX of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest; WHEREAS, Sam Brown has applied to the Town Board for a single -trailer renewal permit dated 1967 , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Sam Brown to locate a single trailer on his property off Middle Road, Cutchogue, N.Y. be and the same is hereby granted for occupancy for a six (6) month period. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Counilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by, Councilman Demarest; WHEREAS, this Board is persuaded that the interests of its citizens in County matters would best be served if such matters were confined to a County embracing the five eastern Towns of .Suffolk County, it is RESOLVED: That this Board favors the introduction and enactment of leg- islation which would create a new county comprising the Towns of Riverhead, Easthampton, Southampton, Shelter Island and Southold, and memorializes the legislators representing such towns in the State Leg- islature to draft, introduce and to use their best efforts to accompl- ish the passage of legislation designed to that end. It is further RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized to take all necessary action to implement this policy. At 3 :30 P.M. in accordance with a notice published according to law, bids were opened for proposals for furnishing to the Town of Southold eight (80O) Hundred feet of fencing as per specifications.' Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill; RESOLVED: That the following Bo nd Anticipation Note for land acquis- ition 1967 be approved: The Town of Southold, in the County of Suffolk, a municipal corporation of the State of New York, hereby acknowledges "tself indebted end for . value received promises to pay to the bearer of this Note, or it is be registered, to the registered holder, the sum of Twenty�Three. Thousand Dollars ($23 ; 000) on the 1st day of March, 1968, together with interest thereon from the date hereof at the rate of three and three-quarters . per centum (3 3/4 /o) per annum, payable at maturity. Both principal and interest on this Note will be paid in lawful money of the U.S .. of America, at the office of the Supervisor, Greenport, New York. At the request of the holed, the Town Clerk shall convert this Note into a registered Note by registering it in the name of the holder. in the office of such Town Clerk and endorsing a certificate of such regis- tration .hereon, after which both principal of and interest on this Note shall 'be payable only to the registered holder, his legal representatives, successors or transferees. Both principal of and int- erest on this Note will be paid in lawful money of the U.S . of America, at the office of the Supervisor, Greenpor t, N.Y. Reiter appeared before the Town Board and ,had a letter read in favor of the purchase. of Brecknock Hall property in Greenport., New York for a Town Hall. The Board received a map of the proposed ramp at Gull Pond from the Conservation Department. A request was received from Laughing Water Association for dredging a deeper channel in Laughing Water, Southold, N.Y. Albert W. Albertson be and he-.her:eby .is authorized, to sign the ::_.neces,sary papers of an Act .on behalf of .the Town Board which -requests the passage of the following Legislation: AN ACT To Amend the Town Law, in relation to the establishment of a depar.t- ment . of public works in Suffolk County. The people of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows; SECTION I. Paragraph two-a of subdivision twenty-one-a of section sixty-four of the town law, as amended by chapter three hundred seventy-four of •.the laws of nineteen hundred sixty-two, is hereby amended to read as follows : 2-a.' The town board of any town in Suffolk County in which the office of the town superintendent of highways is .an elective or appointive office• may adopt a resolution establishing .a department of public works, and (providing) may provide that the town superintendent of hgihways shall be the administrative head thereof, or may appoint and fix the salary of a commissioner of public works, who shall be' the administrative head of the department, Notwithstanding the fore- going, the Town of Shelter Island may adopt a resolution establish- ing a department of public works and provide that the Superintendent of Highways shall be the administrative head thereof.
