Albertson, at 'Greenport, New York on February 14, 1967 , with the follow- ing present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker; Superintendent of Highways Dean and Town Clerk Richmond. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice .Clark; R-2SOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will be held at the office. of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, on March 7 , 1967 at 3 :00 P.M. Vote of Town Board: -Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. - Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That the minutes of January 24, 1967 be and they hereby are duly approved. a Vote of Town Board.: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and, Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark; WHEREAS, Frank Kull has applied to the Town. Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated Feb. 6, 1967, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That- the application . of. Frank Kull to loca-te a single trailer on his property, Indian Neck Lane, Peconic, N.Y, be and the same is hereby granted for occupancy for a six (6) month period. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest . and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That the reports of the Supervisor, Police, Building Inspector, and Town Clerk for the month of. January 1967 be accepted by the Town Board --and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. At 3 :00 P.M. in accordance with a notice punished according to law, bids were opened for =proposals for furnishing to the Town of Southold four (4) 2-door sedans police model and one (1) Station wagon for use as police cars, five (5) police cars to be taken in trade. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Clark;_ RESOLVED: That Frank Coyle of Greenport, New York;. be and he hereby is appointed member of the Southold Town Planning -Board to fill the unex- pended term of Archie Young who died in August, 1966, the term, to run until April 30, 1971. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Albertson; Coun&ilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold approves the following Ordinance: An Ordinance to provide for a partial tax . exemption of real property owned- by,. certain persons with limited income who are 65 years of age or over,, pursuant to Section 467 of the Real Property Tax Law of the State of New York. , BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, as follows : 5 SECTION 1. The purpose of this ordinance is to grant a " partial exemption from taxation to the. extent of fifty per centum of the assessed valuation of real property which is owned by certain per- sons with limited income who are sixty-five, years of age or over meeting the requirements set forth in section 467 of the Real Property Tax Law. SECTION 2 . Real property owned :by persons sexty-five years of age or over shall be exempt from .town taxes to the- extent .oE fifty per, centum of the assessed valuation subject to the following conditions : o a. The owner or all of the owners must file an applic- ation annually in the assessor ' s -office at least ninety days. before the day for filing the final assessment roll or such other time ,as may be hereafter fixed by law. b. The income of the owner or the combined income - of-the owners must not exceed $3000.00 for the twelve consecutive months prior to the date that the application is filed. c.. Title to the -property must be vested .in the owner, or if more than one, in all the owners for at least sixty consecutive months prior to the date that the application- is filed. d. The property must be used exclusively for residential purposes, be occupied in whole or in part by the owners , and .constit- ute the legal residence . of the owners.. ; , . , . . I - _ . WHEREAS, a Citizens •Committee has . been -.formed by members in each of the five eastern townships to study the feasibility -.and desirability of the formation of a new county, consisting of the five eastern townships , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of South- old is in full accord with this study and the appointment of the committee and_ it'.s objectives. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That the Town .Board of the Town of Southold approves._.the action of the Fishers Island Ferry District on the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners advertiSed .for bids for .the con- struction of Dock and Ramp Facilities at the New London Terminal of the Ferry District and at the Fishers Island Terminal of the Ferry District on January 6, 1967 , and ' WHEREAS, bids were opened on Tuesday, January 24, 1967 at 2 :00 P.M. in the office of the Fishers Island Ferry District, Fishers. Island, N.Y. as follows : C. W. Blakeslee & Sons, Inc. , New Haven, Conn. Docking Facilities, Fishers Is: --------------------$34, 900.00 , a New London, Conn,. ------------- 28; 300.00 Total $63, 200.00 AND WHEREAS, the Fishers Island Ferry District has under construction a ferry which is of a type known as ' a stern loader which requires special docking facilities to utilize its capabilities to the fullest, AND WHEREAS, subject vessel is scheduled for delivery during the month of. February 1967 it is imperative that docking facilities be provided at. this -,time, THEREFORE, .BE. IT .RESOLVED, that. the quotation of C. W. Bladeslee & Sons, Inc.. of. New Haven, . Justice Clark, RESOLVED-: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request the Long, Island Lighting Company to place lights in Eastern Shores, Greenport, N.Y. , in the Greenport-East-West Light District, as follows: 175 MV light - Pole LILCO # 4 -McCann Lane & Sutton Place - 175 MV light - Pole. LILCO # 1 - Sutton Place 100 cp light - LILCO pole #10 - Sound Drive 100 cp light - Pole LILCO # 8 - McCann Lane Also place one (1) 175 MV light on NYTCO Pole #329, corner of Kenney' s Road and. North Road, Southold, N.Y. in the Southold Light District. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That Supervisor Albertson be. and he hereby is authorized to purchase office furniture for Town Office, 'the ' sum not to exceed $975 .00. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen. Demarest_ and Valentine; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill; RESOLVED: That Supervisor Albertson be and he hereby is authorized, to request a survey for relief of traffic in the Southold Village from Mechanic Street to Wells Road. Reconvened at 4 :15 PM Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Tuthill; WHEREAS, the Board reported that the lowest bid for the Police .cars was O'Keefe Chevrolet-Olds Inc. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Lester M. Albertson, Supervisor, be and he hereby is directed to enter into a contract with O'Keefe Che' v.-Olds. Inc. for the purchase of four (4) Police cars and one (1) station wagon at a cost of $8992.51 to be delivered at the Police Depattmdnt in Peconic, N.Y. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill; RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $ i01 a/l, q5 Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the amount of $ /o, (,S'IP,/ Lighting Dist- rict Bills in -the amount of $18, 550. 59 and Highway Bills in the amount of $17 , 162.67 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Councilman Valentine wished to report for the records that Chief Sawicki and Patrolman Droskoski had completed their fourteen weeks at Police College and wished to commend them for their interest and desire to improve themselves. 352 Mrs. Katz inquired as to whether or not the Town Board 'had 'considered a recreation, plan in the Town . of . Southold. Supervisor Albertson' - in formed Mrs-. "Katz that the Board had already planned re-creation -for both young and old. He explained that`"the Senior Citizen Group was in, oper= ation, for the Senior citizens of the town and just recently a bus was supplied to tyke a group of young folks on a skiing tour. For the younger set the Town is planning Little •League" Base�iall Diamonds: The beaches are a source of recreation in the summer for all -ages. Other plans are under., way for more activities. Letters were received by. the Town Board from Al Lutz and Wilbur Kaiser stating that they have no objection to the change of zon`c on .applic ation of Casbar, Inc. , . Mattituck, N.Y.
