Nidds in Bay View, Southold, appeared before., the Town Board in relation to the private roads in this-development. The., Board informed them that the developer of. a piece of property must meet the qualifications for highways set by the Town before the highways will be taken over and maintained by the Town. If Mr. Nidds meets these qualifications, the Town will be very willing to take over and maintain the .roads. Mr. Paul Stoutenburgh .appeared before the Town ,Board and suggested the Board appoint an Advisary Council in relation to wetlands and open area in the .Town of Southold. ' a petition was received from Helen Mokus and others, requesting a change of zone of certain property .in Southold, N.Y. described in said petition from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B-2" Busin- ess District, , -NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town of Southold be and he hereby is directed to transmit this application to the Planning Board in accordance with Section 901, Subdivision C of Article IX of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That Harold Daniel Winters, Southold, .N.Y. be and he hereby is appointed lieutenant of the Southold Town Police, and be it further RESOLVED: That the compensation be fixed at $9000.00 per year, payable bi-weekly and that the appointment be effective as of April 27, 1968. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Suter; WHEREAS, several people have requested the Town Board to regulate the speed of boats in Mudd, Eugene and Broadwaters Creeks, Cutchogue, N.Y. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That no person shall operate a boat in the above mentioned creeks at a speed greater than five (5) miles per hour, and be it further RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be -and he hereby is authorized and direct- ed to cause notice of such speed limit to be posted in appropriate places in said creeks. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Suter; RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways be and he hereby is author- ized to maintain the parking lot at Mattituck Legion, said lot and office having been rented by the Town of Southold for use by the Justice of the Town, Martin Suter. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; C"ouncilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark; WHEREAS, Police Chief Carl Cataldo requests all police officers to attend a school to be operated in the Town of Southold, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:- That each policeman attend said school and be paid for two hours per man per week at an hourly rate based on his present pay. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. 58 Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That Detective Droskoski of the Southold Town Police Department be and he hereby is- authorized-,to attend 'St. Lawrence Police School, and be it further RESOLVED: That tuition and necessary equipment while attending said school be a legal charge against the Town up to -but- not to exceed the ' sum of $85.00. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Suter; RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson be and he hereby is auth- orized to sign the necessary papers with County Sail and Water Conser- vation District, said agreement being filed in the office of -the Supervisor. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. 7 + , A small group of people from East Marion appeared before the Board to- oppose the removal of the steps leading to the beach- at Rocky 'Point.
