Clark recessed the meeting of the Southold Town Board on March 26, 1968 to make it possible for the' members of the Town Board to attend the funeral- s.ervi-ces. for Mrs. .Robert :Cameron, wife of the Supervisor .of the Town. of Southampton. The meeting of. the Town Board will reconvene on March 27, 1968 .at 3 :00 P.M. The Southold Town ,Board r.econvened , at the Supervisor-'s Office, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, at 3 :00 P.M.. on .Wednesday, March 27 , 1968 with the following present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark-- and -Suter; Town Attorney Tasker; Superin- tendent of Highways Dean and Town C.lerk .Riphmond. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by; Justice Suter;- RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town- Board will. be held-at-the office of Supervisor Lester M.. Albertson, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, on Tuesday, April 9, - 1968, at 3 :00 P.M: Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of March 12, 1968, be-- and they hereby are approved. Vote of �Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; 'Councilmen -Demares-t and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter:' Moved by Councilman Valentine;. seconded by Justice Clark; - - RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester Albertson be and he hereby is authorized to purchase one police car, either- under County Contract or by bid, which- ever is in the best interest of the Town. . Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest-_iand- Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That Carl Cataldo, - Smithtown, - New York, be%.and -he is.` appoint= ed Chief of Police of the Town of Southold for a probationary period of twenty-six weeks following the date the appointment becomes effective, and be it further RESOLVED: That Carl Cataldo serve in the capacity of Chief of Police at the pleasure of the Town' Board, unless otherwise provided by law, and be it further RESOLVED: That the compensation be fixed at $9500.00 per year, payable bi-weekly and that his active duty start on April 13, 1968. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest; WHEREAS, Southold Planning Board has prepared an official report and Recommendation upon the petition of Russell Tabor & Sons for a change of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" .Business District and upon the Town Board' s own motion for the following changes : 1) Silvermere area from "B-2 " Business and "A" Agricultural to"__""M" Multiple Dwelling District, 2) East side of Kenney's Road, Southold, from "B" Business District to "B-2" Business District and "M" Multiple Residence District, and 3) property on Youngs Avenue, Orient, from "B" Business District to "M" Multiple Residence District and "A" Residential and Agriculural District, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held by the Southold Town Board at the Supervisor ' s Office, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, on Tuesday, April 23, 1968, at 7 :30 P.M. on the above mentioned petitions and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby _ is authorized and directed to cause a notice of said hearings to be published in the Mattituck Watchman-L.I. Traveler, pursuant to the requirements of law. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices -Clark and Suter. 5� Moved by Justice, Suter; seconded by Justice Clark; WHEREAS, W. .Edgar Worthington has applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal- permit dated March 22 , 1968, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of W. Edgar Worthington to locate a single trailer on his property at Sound Ave. , Mattituck, N.Y. be and the same is granted for a six (6) month period. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold be authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest responsible bidder one (1) new point and pump for use at the Town Disposal Area. Vote of .Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor- Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Valentine; WHEREAS, Burton Potter Post #185 American Legion, Greenport, New York, applied to the Town Clerk for a Bingo License Amendment, and WHEREAS, the Town Board has examined ,the application and .investigation duly made findings and determinations as required by law, I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and directed to execute bn behalf of the Town Board the findings and determinations required by law, and it is further RESOLVED: .That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to issue an amended .Bingo License to the Burton Potter Post. #185 American Legion Greenport, N.Y. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. ` Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Valentine; WHEREAS, Mr. Charles Abrahams of Mattituck, New York, contributed many hours of his time toward the completion of house numbering in the Town of Southold, . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Mr. Abrahams be commended for the interest he has shown and the many hours he has given without. compen- sation, and be it further RESOLVED: That the Town Board wishes to express it' s sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Abrahams.
