ORGANIZATION MEETING OF JANUARY 2, ,.1968.
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Lester M.
Albertson at Greenport, New York, on Tuesday, January. 2, 1968. The
meeting was called to order at 3 :00 P.M. with the following present.:. '
Supervisor Albertson; councilmen Demarest and Val entine; ,Justices. .
Clark and Martin. Suter; Town Attorney Tasker; Superintendent of High-
ways Dean and Town Clerk Richmond.
Moved by Councilman Valentine;. seconded by Councilman Dema�;est;
RESOLVED: . That. the next meeting of the Town Board will be held at the
office of the Supervisor, Lester. M. Albertson, 16 South Street, Green-
port, New York, . on Tuesday, , January .9, 1968; at' 3 :00 P.M.

WHEREAS, it is required by Section 27 subdivision 1 .of 'the Town Law .that
the Town fix the salaries of the Town elected officers at an ,'amount not
in excess of. the amounts. respectfully specified in the notice of hear-
ing on the preliminary •budget 'published. pursuant. to section 113 of the
Town Law;

WHEREAS,, Section 223 of the Town Law allows the Town Board, of any Town
having more than one assessor to establish the office of Chairman of,
Town Assessors, who, in addition to. his regular duties, shall perform
such services :in connection with his regular duties, shall, perform
such services in connection- with assessment and ,taxation of property,
for state, county, and town purposes- as the Board shall direct,

is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the Town Board the
findings and determinations as required by law, and it is further

RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold
be authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest

much as may be needed for the repairs of Town Highways, to be delivered
when so ordered by the Superintendent of Highways.

A' letter was received from Mr. L. Valentine of Fishers Island, N.Y.
withdrawing his appeal for a change of zone .o"f his property in Fishers
Island and asking that the scheduled hearing be postponed until
further notice.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Valentine;
WHEREAS, the removal of sand from the disposal area, Cutchogue, N.Y.
is not sufficient to take care of the disposal in that area,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the. Town sell sand and gravel at
25 cents per yard or less„ said sand and gravel to be used within the
Town of Southold only, and be it further
RESOLVED: That persons wishing to purchase said sand and gravel obtain
a slip and pay in a vance to the Town Clerk,. Town of Southold, N.Y.
