The Annual Fishers Island meeting of the Southold Town Board w6t�; held
on Tuesday, August 12, 1969. The meeting, was held at the Fishers Island
School and was called to order by Supervisor Albert Martocchia at 1:00
P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen
Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark, Suter and Edwards; Town Attorney
Tasker; Supt. of Highways Dean; Town Clerk Richmond and officials of the
State, County and Town and guests and residents of Fishers Island.
Supervisor Martocchia 'introduced all the State, County and Town Officials
attending the meeting.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Suter;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of July`'-11969 be and they hereby are approved.
Vote of 'own Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Demarest and
Valentine; Justices Clark, Suter and Edwards.
Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will be held at the
SupervigDr ' s Office, 16 South Street, Greenport, on Tuesday, August 26,
1969, at 3 :00 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Clark, aSuter and Edwards.

RESOLVED: That the report of the Fishers Island Ferry District be and
hereby is approved.

Moved by Justice Edwards; seconded by Councilman Valentine;
WHEREAS, the Fishers Island Ferry District residents have requested
financial aid for the District,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia be authorized ,
to contact the Board of Supervisors, Suffolk County, for County Financial
Aid for Fishers Island Ferry District.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Clark, Suter and Edwards.
The Fishers Island residents discussed the following:
1. Question was asked if a show of hands at a public school meeting was
legal. Mr. King of the District Superintendent 's Office answered.
2. The bids of Fishers Island Ferry--District were discussed.
3. Question was asked if D.D.T. was being used for mosquito control.
Mr. Williams informed., them that other materials were now being used.
4. Dredging of West Lake was discussed. Maps were available for inspect-
ion after the meeting.
5. Discussion on Ferry District refusing to accept checks. Supervisor
Martocchia informed .the .residents to consult the Fishers Island
Commissioners.
6. Discussion on the Ferry District operating on it' s own. Town Attorney
Tasker and Assemblyman Perry B. Duryea, Jr. stated that the Act could
be changed if the majority of residents preferred it that way.
7. Request was made for reduced fare on the ferry for older people.
The Ferry District Commissioner stated it had been discussed but
no solution had been made.
8. Discussion of pollution in the harbors.
9. Mr. Gada complimented the Supt. of Highways, Raymond Dean, on the
excellent condition of the roads in Fishers Island.
Recess was called at 3 :05 P.M.
After recess of the meeting everyone was invited to the Legion Hall for
a light lunch and coffee served by several ladies of Fishers Island.
Meeting was reconvened at 5 :00 P.M.

RESOLVED: That General bills in the amount of $13 ,412 .30.1 Lighting Dist-
rict -bills in the amount of $4, 110. 75; Fishers Island Ferry District
bills in the amount of $19,326.30 and Highway Bills in the amount of
$27 , 786. 70 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.

RESOLVED: That the reports of the Supervisor, Building Inspector, Justice
Suter, Police Department and Town Clerk for the month of July and the
report of the Bay Constable for the month of June 1969 be accepted by
the Town Board and placed on file.'

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CONTINUING PLANNING ASSISTANCE
PROJECT GRANT AGREEMENT WITH NEW YORK STATE OFFICE OF
PLANNING COORDINATION
WHEREAS, the Town of Southold has heretofore applied to- the New. York
State Office of Planning Coordination for Federal and State aid in
a continuing planning assistance project under the provisions of the
Federal Housing Act of 1954,_ as amended, and Section 548 of the Exec-
utive Law of the State of New York, and such application is being
processed for approval and acceptance by the Department of Housing
and Urban Development and the Office of Planning Coordination of
the State of New York,- and
WHEREAS, in order to secure the benefits of said continuing planning
assistance program it is necessary for the Town of Southold to contrib-
ute a sum not to exceed seventeen per centum (17/0) of the total cost
and to enter into a Project Grant Agreement with the New York State
Office of Planning Coordinaation, now be it
RESOLVED, that the Town of Southold hereby agrees to have available,
in the year 1970, the sum of Three Hundred and Sixty-seven Dollars
($367. 00) or so much thereof as may be necessary to contribute a- sum
not to exceed seventeen per centum (17/) of the total cost of said
Project, to be paid to the State of New York, on condition that the
above-mentioned application is approved by both the Department of
Housing and Urban Development and the Director of the Office of
Planning Coordination of the State of New York, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized and directed
to execute on behalf of the Town of Southold the project Grant Agreement
to carry the foregoing into effect.

Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
WHEREAS, Southold Town' Planning Bca rd has prepared an official report
and recommendation and the County Planning Board has been notified and
has no objections on the application of Frank Murphy, Mattituck, N.Y.
and Stephen Doroski, Southold, N.Y. for a change of zone from "A"
Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business District,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held by
the Southold Town Board at the Supervisor ' s Office, 16 South Street,
Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday, September 9, 1969, at 9:30 P.M. on the
above mentioned petitions and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to cause notice of said hearing to be published
in the Suffolk Weekly Times, pursuant to the requirements of law. .

WHEREASI : Chief Carl Cataldo has named Patrolman Theodore Bokina and
Rka-itxto.li em Henry Stepnoski POLICEMEN OF THE MONTH for their outstanding
police work,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That SupervigDr Martocchia send a note of
congratulations to Patrol-men Bokina and Stepnoski on behalf of the Town
