Martocchia, Greenport, New York, on Tuesday; January 14, 1969 with the following present: Supervisor Albert- Martocchia; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter; Town Attorney Tasker; Superintendent of Highways Dean and Town Clerk Richmond. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That the minutes of January 2, 1969 be and they are hereby approve• Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen -Dmriarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. That any town official elected or appointed who are required to . use their own automobile in the performance of duty be compensated for travel expenses necessarily and actually incurred in carrying out the duties of his office at a rate not to exceed 10 cents per. mile. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. _ Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That any Town official elected or .appointed who are required to use their own automobile in the performance of duty be compensated for travel expenses necessarily and actually incurred in carrying out the duties of his o.lfice at a rate not to exceed 12 cents per mile. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Clark; RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized to con- tract for work on the front and top deck of the Police Boat as specified, the sum not to exceed $485.00 , Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor- Martocchia; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justice Clark. -Noe-Justice Suter. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized to arrange transportation by bus to the Association of Towns, held in New York City on Feb. 10, 11 and. 12, . 1969, all department heads to be notified by the Town Clerk. The bus will leave Greenport parking lot at 2 :00 P.M. Sun"V day February 9, 1969 and leave New York Wednesday Feb. 12, 1969 at 2 :00 P.M. Dawson, Attendance Officer, was forced to terminate his appointed office as Attendance Officer due to the age of 70 years as. is required by law., NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Chester Melot, Mattituck, New York, be and hereby is appointed, suject to the .written approval of the District Superintendent of Schools, Attendance Officer to all schools throughout the Town, except such schools as are otherwise provided for by Section 3213 of the Education Law, and be it further RESOLVED: That such Attendance Officer may be removable at the pleasure of the District Superintendent of Schools, and be it further RESOLVED: That the compensation of such Attendance Officer be fixed at $1200.00 per yaar payable in regular 'ayable in regular monthly installments, effective January 16, 1969, he to pay his own expenses, and be it further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is instructed to notify Chester Melot and the District Supt. of Schools of the appointment. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Clark; WHEREAS, a vacancy exists in the office of Assessor, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, caused by the resignation of Assessor Albert Martocchia, NOWt THEREFOREt BE IT RESOLVED: That pursuant to the authority vested in the Town Board pursuant to the provisions of Section 64 of the Town .Law, that David Walker, Greenport, New.York,, be and he hereby is appointed to the office of Assessor of the Town of ,Southold to fill the vacancy in said office and that such appointment shall take effect January 16, 1969 and the said David Walker shall hold suh office until January 1, 1970, salary shall be fixed at $5300.00 per year payable monthly. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Clark, RESOLVED: That the Dog Warden Truck be parked overnight in one of the buildings offered by the Village of Greenport, In Greenport, N.Y. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. , Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Suter; RESOLVED: That Councilman Demarest, Justice Suter and Supervisor Martocchia be a committee to meet with H.O.S .T. concerning Open- Housing. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest; RESOLVED: That the Chief of Police, Carl Cataldo, be and he hereby is authorized to contract with the ,New York Telephone Company for. a ,truck line to the Police Headquarters from, telephone booths and boxes at a cost not to exceed $35. 00 per month, The system would allow .anyone to call without charge by dialing 911 from anywahere in the Town direct to Police Headquarters. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor M�Lbtotchia; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. , Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Clark; , RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia, Justice Henry Clark and Justice- Martin Suter be, and they hereby are, designated as the committee to meet with a similar committee, established by the Southold Town ,Unit of Civil Service Employees Association, Inc. , for the purpose of dealing with em- ployee grievances and working conditions, and other ,matters affecting the employees of the Town of Southold other than those of the Police Department, pursuant to the agreement between the - Town of Southold- and the Southold unit of Civil Service Employees Association Inc. , and it is FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is directed to notify the president of the Southold Town Unit of Civil Service Employees Association, Inc: of the appointment of such committee, Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Demarest and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Suter RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia, Councilmen Louis Demarest and Howard Valentine;be and they hereby are designated as the ,committee to meet with a similar committee, established 'by the Southold Town Patrol- men' s Benevolent Association, Inc. for the purposeof dealing with employee grievances and working conditions, and other matters affecting the Police Department and its employees, pursuant to the agreement between the Town of Southold and the Southold Town Patrolmen' s Benevolent Association, Inc. and it is further RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is directed to notify the president of the Southold Town Eatrolihents Bemevelent Association., Inc. of the appointment of such committee. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark; RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold be authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest respon- sible bidder, 500, 000 gallons of Asphalt Road Material (more or less, as- may be needed) for the repairs of Town Highways, to be delivered when so ordered by the Superintendent of Highways. Moved by ,Councilman Demarest; . seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That Superintendent of Highways Dean be and he .hereby is author- ized to contract to have junk cars removed from the Southold Town Disppsal Area, the cost not to exceed $2500. 00 said contract to be drawn by Attorney Tasker.. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest.;, RESOLVED: That Superintendent of Highway Dean be and he hereby is auth- orized to sign an agreement with the Southold Fire District for: a joint fire well to be installed at the Highway Department property, Peconic, ' New York, the cost not to exceed $1500.00, the Southold Fire District to pay half of the cost. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded .by Councilman Valentine; WHEREAS, this Board desires to construct a town building on town property to be used for purposes of the Police Department and other related uses, and WHEREAS, the annual budget for the current fiscal year includes. an approp- riation. in the amount of $10, 000 for ,general _contingent purposes ..none of. which funds have been expended to date, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: . as follows : 1. That a building construction account be and the same .is hereby created. 2. That the sum of. $1, 500. 00 be and the same hereby is transferred from the general contingent fund to - the building construction account and be appropriated for the purposes of. said account. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Clark; WHEREAS, this Board believes that it is in the interest of the Town of Southold that a new Police Station be constructed, and WHEREAS, it is necessary in order to accomplish said purpose that an arch- itect and engineer be retained to prepare the necessary plans and specif- ications and to provide architectural and engineering services with respect to such project, and WHEREAS- Donald J. Brown, Mattituck, N.Y, has conferred with the Board and has proposed to render such services, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Donald�[J. Brown be.-and he hereby is retained as architect and engineer to perform such services relative . to the construction of the Police Station for the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and that Supervisor Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized and directed to contract with said Donald J. Brown, said contract to be in a form hereunto annexed and made a part thereof, Cost not to exceed $1500. 00. Vote of Town Board:. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Suter; 14.1 WHEREAS, Isadore Krupski has app`lied 'to the Town 'Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated January 10, 1969, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT, RESOLVED: That the application of Isadore Krupski to' locate a single 'trailer on his property at Peconic, N.Y. be and here- by is granted for a `six (6) month period. Terry, Building Inspector, Town of "Southold, "N.Y. be and .he hereby is authorized to attend State Building Officials Schools, New York City, N.Y. on February 20 and 21, 1969, and be it further RESOLVED: That the actual and necessary expenses to travel, meals and lodging incurred while attending said school, be a legal charge against the Town.
