The Southold Town' Clerk apprised the Town Board that Supervisor Lester M.
Albertson -had filed his resignation with him on December 24, 1968 at
4 :30 P.M. to take effect midnight December 31, 1968. _
Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
RESOLVED: That Justice Henry A. Clark be and he hereby is designated to
act as temporary chairman of this Town Board meeting in the absence of
the Supervisor. The foregoing resolution was duly put to a vote on roll
call which resulted as follows : Ayes : Councilmen 'Demarest and Valentine;
Justices Suter and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
Whereas, a vacancy exists in the office of Supervisor of the Town of
Southold, Suffolk County, New York, caused by the resignation of Supervisor
Lester M. Albertson who was elected to such office on the 7th day of
November, 1967 for a term of two years from the lst day of January, 1968, any
WHEREAS, the Town Clerk of the 'Town of Southold has notified this Board
that Assessor Albert Martocchia has heretofore on the 2nd dya of January,
1969, resigned his office of Assessor by delivering to the Town Clerk his
resignation in writing addressed to the Town Clerk, said resignation to
take effect immediately,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That pursuant to the authority vested in
the Town Board pursuant bD the provisions of Section 64 of the Town Law,
that Albert Martocchia be and he hereby is appointed to the office of
Supervisor of the Town of Southold to fill the vacancy in said office
and that such appointment shall take effect .immediately and the said
Albert Martocchia shall hold such office until January 1, 1970,
The question of adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly put to a
vote on roll call which resulted as follows : Ayes-Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Suter and Clark.
The temporary chairman then called a recess at 3 :30 P.M. in order that
the Town Clerk administer the Oath of Office to Albert Martocchia and
that Albert Martocchia file his official undertaking with the Town Board.
The Town Clerk thereupon administered the Oath of Office to Albert Marto-
cchia and Albert Martocchia thereupon presented his official undertaking
to the Town 'Board. Oath and Bonds were then delivered and filed with ' the
County Clerk of the County of Suffolk, New York and handed to the Town
Clerk of Southold.

RESOLVED: . That. Bond No.. 73-S-8i72 BC, issued by the Aetna Casualty and.
Surety Company in the sum of $200, 000.00 on behalf of Albert. Martocchia
and Bond #73-8173 BC issued by the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company
in the sum of $15, 000. 00 on behalf of Albert Martocchia as custodian of
Finances of 'the Fishers Island 'Ferry District be and the same` are hereby
approved as to form, manner of 'execution and sufficiency of sureties therein

Recess was called at 3 :35 P.M. to reconvene at 4 :00 P.M.
The Town Board meeting reconvened at 4:00 P.M. with Supervisor Albert
Martocchia presiding.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Albert Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized
to sign the wage contract between the C.S .E.A. and the Town of Southold
prepared by the Town Attorney and agreed upon by the C.S .E.A. and the Town
Board. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Pia'rtocchia; Councilmen Demarest
and Valentine; Justices Clark and Suter.

RESOLVED: . That the. next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held
at the office of the Supervisor, Albert Martocchia, at 16 South Street,
Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday, January 14, 1969, at 3 :00 P.M.

to act as Social Service Officer at the pleasure of the Town Board, and it

WHEREAS, it is required by Section 27 Subdivision 1 of the Town Law that
the Town Board fix salaries of all Town -appointed officers and employees
NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the salaries of the members of the
Board of, Appeals, Town of Southold, be and they hereby are fixed at $1575.
per year with the exception of the Chairman of the Board of Appeals whose
salary shall be and hereby is fixed at $1800.00 per year, and it is further

the Board of Appeals be paid these salaries for their respective offices
and that their salaries be paid in regular monthly payments and that the

WHEREAS, Section 223 of the Town Law allows the Town Board of- any Town
having more than one assessor to establish the office of Chairman of Town
Assessors, who; in addition to his regular duties shall - perform such
services in connection with assessment and taxation of property for state,
county and town purposes as the Board shall direct,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Wendell Tabor be and hereby -dis
designated to hold the office -of Chairman of the Town Board of Assessors
until the first day of January, next succeeding such designation, all. in
accordance with Section 22B of the Town Law; and it is further
RESOLVED: That the compensation for such appointment be fixed at $3500. 00
per year payable in regular monthly payments.

Planning Board of the Town of Southold be and the same are fixed at
$1300. 00 per year with the exception of'- the Chairman of the Planning

with such Board. the Bonds or .certificates of: the: United States of the ,
State of New York or any County, , Town, City, Village or School. District..
of the State of New' York- as security for .such funds so. deposited but
such Bond or Certificate shall be subject to .the approval of the Town
Board and shall be deposited in such place and held under such condition

in the Town of Southold, which has been entered. as second. class- mail matter,
be and the same is hereby designated, effective as of Feb, 1, 1969, as the
official- paper of the Town of Southold for the publication .Qf all notices,
resolutions, ordinnces and other ,m' atter required to be published, and- it

RESOLVED: That the Long Island Traveler-Mattituck Watchman, a newspaper
be designated as an additional newspaper for the publication of such Notices,

12, -1969, and to cast the vote of the aforesaid Town ,.pursuant to Section 6
of Article ' III of the Constitution and by-laws of said .Association; and be

compensation based upon the- length of service in the Town as follows:
A. Employees with at least ten (10) years but. less than fifteen. (15)
years of service shall receive a salary .increase of. 4%..
B. Employees with at least fifteen, (15) years but less. than twenty (20)
years of service shall receive a salary. increase of 5%. .
C. Employees with more than twenty (20) . years of service shall receive
a salary increase of 6%.
D. Such additional compensation as provided shall commence on the first
day of the month in which an employee becomes eligible therefor. -

to sign the lease with the Southold Presbyterian Church for use by the
Town Historian of vault and office space in ,the basement of the. Christian
Education Building. The lease provides for an automatic renewal for success-
ive one year terms unless either party gives notice of termination not less
than sixty days prior to the expiration of the existing term.
