MEETING OF OCTOBER 27 , 1970.
The Southold Town Board met at. the office of Supervisor Martocchia,
16 South Street, Greenport, New York, on October 27 , 1970 at 3 :00 P.M.
with the following present: Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine
and Rich; Justices Suter and Demarest; Town Attorney Tasker; Superinten-
dent of Highways Dean and Town Clerk Richmond.
Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Demarest;
RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will .be held at the
office of the Supervisor, Albert Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport,
New York, on Thursday, November 5, 1960, at 2 :00 P.41.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine
and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter.

RESOLVED: That the minutes of October 6, 1970 be and they hereby are

WHEREAS, William Pollert and Adrian B. VanRiper applied to_ ,the. Town Board
fora change of zonefrom "A" Residential and Agricultural District to
"B." and . "M" on a parcel of 18 acres in Greenport, fronting on North Road
and Manhanset Avenue and Champlin Place, and
WHEREAS, William Pollert and Adrian B. VanRiper wish to v�ithdraw the
application,. now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That the Town Board grants permission for the withdrawal of
said application.

RESOLVED:. That the Budget Hearing of November 5, 1970 set for 3 :00 P.M.

cannot be present at 3 :00 P.M.

RESOLVED That this Town Board prevail upon the Eastern Long Island
Hospital Association to maintain the full services of a hospital.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Albert Martocchia be and he is authorized to
sign a contract with the Valley National Bank for computer services for
paytolls and other services at. a charge not to exceed $1560. 00 per year.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized., to
obtain Attorney Joseph Lite to represent the Southold Town Assessors
in all tax review proceedings and that he be paid a reasonable compensat-
ion for his services.

WHEREAS, John Droskoski, Orient, N.Y. was appointed Police Patrolman of
the Town of Southold for a provisionary 'period beginning June 20, 1970,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That John Droskoski be and he hereby is
appointed Police Patrolman of the Town of Southold for a probationary
period en�ing October 27 , 1971, and be it further
RESOLVED: That John ,Droskoski will serve in the capacity of Police Patrol-
man at the pleasure of the Town Board, and
RESOLVED: That the compensation during this probationary period be fixed
at ¢6890. 00 payable bi-weekly effective as of October 27 , 1970.

WHEREAS, Kenneth Watson, Greenport, N.Y. was appointed Police Patrolman
of the Town of Southold for a provisionary period beginning June 20, 1970,
NOW, THEREFORE-, , BE IT RESOLVED: That Kenneth Watson be and he hereby is.
appointed Police Patrolman of the Town of Southold for a probationary
period ending October 27 , 1971, and be it further
RESOLVED: That Kenneth will serve in the capacity of Police Patrolman at
the pleasure of the Town Board, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the compensation during this probationary period be fixed
at $6890: 00 per year, payable bi-weekly effective as of October 2.7 , 1970.

RESOLVED: That this Town Board approves the action of the Commissioners
of the Fishers Island Ferry District of the contract for the demolition
of an old building at Fishers Island, owned by the Town of Southold, the
sum not to exceed $2000. 00.

WHEREAS, Fred Lawson applied to the Town Clerk for a single trailer re-
newal permit dated October 8, 1970,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Fred Lawson to
locate a single trailer on the south side of Sound Avenue, Mattituck,
N.Y. be and hereby is granted for a period of six (6) months.

Mrs. Anne Fried read the following letter to the Town Board:
Gentlemen; The Southold Unit of the League of Women Voters again wishes
to urge early action by' the Town' Board and the Town Planning Board in
accepting the proposed Southold Town Development Plan.
We believe that acceptance of this Plan as over-all policy must precede
further public debate and subsequent decisions regarding specific aspects
of the Plan. Sincerely, Mrs. Kenneth Tiedke, Chairman, Southold Unit
League of Women Voters.
Mrs. James Gallagher of Mattituck, appeared before the Board requesting
information on taking over the roads known as Donna Drive and Theresa
Drive,, owned by Frank Zaleski as Town roads.' The Board stated that Mr.
Zaleski had not met with highway specifications and had not dedicated
the roads to the Town.
Mr. Gallagher also inquired about an electric fence next to his property
which the Board will investigate.
Mrs. Waimey requested that the Board examine the boat ramp "and parking
at New Suffolk.
Richard Lark, Esq. , representing Reeves Bros., Mattituck, requested
information in relation to roads' in Subdivision known as Bennetts Pond
being taken over by the Town.
Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Rich;
RESOLVED: That a public hearigg will be held by the Town Board of the
Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, at the Supervisor ' s Office,
16 South Street, Greenport, New York, on the 24th day of November, 1970 ,
at 4 :00 o 'clock P.M. of said day for the purpose of considering a contract
with the Village of Greenport, Suffolk County, New York, for fire protect-
ion to be furnished by said Village to the Fire Protection District est-
ablished in said Town and known as "East-West Greenport Fire Protection
District, Town of Southold, N.Y. " upon the following' general terms, to wit:-
(a) The Fire Department of said Village shall be subject to call for
attendance upon any fire occurring in said District with a minimum of
three pieces of apparatus and suitable men and equipment when notified
by alarm or by telephone call from any person within said District.
(b) When notified by silent alarm or alarm other' than a general
alarm, said Department shall respond with such men and apparatus as shall
be deemed suitable by the Chief of said Department.
(c) The contract shall be for a term of five years commencing on
January 1, 1971.
(d) For such service the Village of Greenport shall receive the follow-
ing sums annually, to wit: 1971-$11, 100; 1972-$12, 200; 1973-$13 , 300; 1974-
$13 , 850; 1975-$14, 300.
(e) Such other incidental terms as may be necessary or proper
in connection with such contract.

MEETING OF NOVEMBER 5, 1970
The Southold Town Board met at the office of the Supervisor, Albert M.
Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, on Thursday, Nov. 5,
1970 with the following present: Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen
Valentine end Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter; Town Attorney Tasker;
Superintendent of Highways Dean and Town Clerk Richmond. Absent: Justice
E. Perry Edwards, Fishers Island.

RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of October 27 , 1970 be and
they hereby are approved.

WHEREAS, George Muir, East Marion, N.Y. has been a faithful and con-
scientious School Crossing Guard, Town of Southold, for many yearp,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That it is with deep regret that the
Town Baird of the Town of Southold accepts the resignation of George
Muir, effective in December 1970, and it is further
RESOLVED: That a copy of 'this resolution be forwarded to George Muir
and a copy be recorded in the minutes of the meeting of the Town Board.

WHEREAS, a map entitled "Proposed West Greenport Water Supply District" ,
situate in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, showing the
boundaries .of the proposed West Greenport Supply District together with
a plan and report have heretofore been filed in the office of the Town
Clerk, and
WHEREAS, the boundaries of the said proposed Water Supply District are
as follows :
ALL that certian tract, piece or parcel of land, situate
west of the Incorporated Village of Greenport, in the Town of
Southold, County of Suffolk and State of New York, bounded
and described as follows :
BEGINNING at a point formed by the intersection of the north-
erly line of New York State Route 25 (Main Road) with the center
