HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-07/28/1970 2 MEETING OF JULY 28, 1970 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Albert Martocchia at Greenport, N.Y. on July 28, 1970 at. 3 :00 P.M., with the following present: Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter; Town Attorney Tasker; Town -Superintendent of Highways Dean. and Town Clerk Richmond. Absent: Justice E. Perry Edwards. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Rich; RESOLVED: That the Town Board make its official visit to Fishers Island on Thursday, August 13 , 1970. The meeting will be called to order: at 1:66 P.M. in the Fishers Island School House, Supervisor Martocchia is hereby authorized to provide transportation, said boat to leave . Sterling Harbor Marina, Greenport, N.Y. at 9 :00 A.M. . Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supery isor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices Demarest and .Suter. Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by -Justice Demarest; RESOLVED: That the minutes of July 7 , 1970 be and they hereby are approved/ Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Rich; RESOLVED: That the General Bills in the of $1539. 00 to N.Y. Telephone , Company be and the same are hereby ,ordered paid. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Justice Demarest; RESOLVED: That the report of the Fishers Island Ferry District for the , month of June 1970 be and hereby is accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor .Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Councilman Riche seconded by Councilman Valentine; WHEREAS, Marian Council #3852 , Knights of Columbus, Cutchogue, N.Y. applied to the Town Clerk for a Bingo License, and WHEREAS, the Town Board has examined the application and after investig- ation duly made findings and determinations as required by law, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the Town Board the findings and determinations as required by law, and it is further RESOLED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to issue a Bingo License to the Marian Council #3852, Knights of Columbus. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Justice Suter; seconded- by Councilman Rich; RESOLVED: That the Supervisor, Albert Martocchia, be and he hereby is authorized to enter into a lease for two years with Ethel and Samuel Worter for a tract of vacant land to be used for beach purposes at the end of South Harbor Lane, Southold, N.Y. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine; and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Rich- RESOLVED: That all Life Guards and Attendants of Southold own Beach be paid $2. 25 per hour plus 15,� per hr. for every year worked"-up to a max- imum of $2. 75 per .-hour. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supery isor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Rich; WHEREAS, Case Bros. Cutchogue, N.Y. by petition verified April 6, 1970, petitioned the Town Board for a change of zone of certain property described in said petition from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "M" Multiple Residents District, and 33 WHEREAS, the said petition was referred to the Southold T ® own Planning Board for official recommendations and reports , and WHEREAS, the Town Board pursuant to due notice thereof, held a hearing thereon on the 9th day of June, 1970, at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the relief demanded in said petition be and the same is in all respects DENIED. Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Valentine; RESOLVED: That the Super-Atendent of Highways of the. Town of Southold, be authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase from the lowest responsible bidder, the following items, more or less, as may be needed: 1, 000 ft. 12 " dia. 16 ga. x 10 ' lg. Spiral Lock Seam Culvert Pipe (Perforated 100 pcs. 12 " dia. 16 ga. Connecting Bands 300 ft.. 18" dia. 16 ga.. x 10 ' Galy. Spiral Lock Culvert Pipe (perforated) 30 pcs. 18" dia. 16 ga. Moved by Justice Suter; seconded* by Councilman Demarest; WHEREAS, Sophie Saunders applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated July 13, 1970, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Sophie Raunders to locate a single trailer on her property, Main Rd. , Laurel, N.Y. be and hereby is granted for a period of six months. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices Demarest- and, Suter. Moved by Councilman Rich; seconded by Councilman Valentine; WHEREAS, Isadore Krupski applied to the 'Town Board for a' single trailer renewal permit dated July 13, 1970, NOW, THEREFORE, --BE IT IRESOLVED: That the 'application of 'Isadore-Krupski to locate a single trailer on his property, Peconic, N.Y. be and hereby' is granted for a period of six months. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor- Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich;' Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded 'by Justice ,Suter; WHEREAS, Roy A. Schelin applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated July 13; 197; , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Roy A. Schelin t o locate a single trailer on his property, John' s Rd. , (Private Road) E/S ' Main Rd. , Mattituck, N.Y. be and hereby is granted for 'a period of six months.;' - Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter. Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Justice Suter; WHEREAS, a petition was received from Jack Driscoll and Rene Gendron re- questing a change of zone of certain property, Mattituck, N.Y. described in said petition from °A" Res. & Agric. Dist. to "B" Business District, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That ` tie Town Clerk'of -the Town of Southold be and he hereby is directed to transmit this application to the Planning Board in accordance with Section 901,. Subdivision 'C of' Article IX of the Building one Ordinacne of the-Town of Sothold. Vote of' Town Board: Ayes -ALI Moved -by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Rich; RESOLVED: That .the ,Southold_ Town Board will accept a Bond of $9000.00 as recommended by the Southold Town Planning Board as prepared by Lawrence Tuthill, Const. Engineer, for the completion of roads and other improvements in the subdivision owned by James Dean and 'known -as "DAWNSVIEW" located at Cutchggee, N.Y. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- .ALL .
