A letter was received from Mrs. George Ahlers, Cutchogue, thanking
Patrolman Edward Brush and Sgt. Henry Santacroce, who assisted in, the
rescue and prompt delivery of their son, Jimmy, to the hospital follow-
ing an accident.
A request was made by Mr. Proom for financial assistance in dredging
the entrance to Wunneweta Pond.
Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Rich;
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request
the Long ' Island Lighting Company to install the following lights:
One 175 MVOH street light on the corner of Route 27A and Peconic -Lane,
on LILCO pole #254,
One 175 MVOH street light on NYTCO pole #27 , Oaklawn Ave. , Southold, N.Y.
Also, as recommended by Mr. Kincaid, that 7-7600 lumen mercury vapor
street lightsfixtures be installed and 5-1000 lumen street lights be
removed, thus providing a mercury vapor light on Wickham Ave. , at every
intersection and on alternate pole in between, from Route 27A to Grand
Avenue.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilmen Valentine
and Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter.

MEETING OF FEBRUARY 24, 1970.
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor. Albert Martocchia
on Tuesday, February 24, 1970 at 3 :00 P.M. with the following present:
Supervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich; Justices Suter and Demarest;
Town Attorney Tasker; Superintendent of Highways Dean and Town Clerk
Richmond. Absent: Justice E. Perry Edwards and Councilman Howard Valentine.
Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Rich;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of February 6, 1970 be and
they hereby are approved as corrected.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich; Justices
Demarest and Suter.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Suter;
RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will be held at the
office of Supervisor Albert Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport, N.Y.
on Tuesday, March 10, 1970 at 3 :00 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich; Justices
Demarest and Suter.
Several people appeared before the Board protesting the ramp to be in-
stalled at Norman E. Klipp Marine Park, stating that it would hamper a
good swimming beach and create pollution and littering of the beach area.
They also felt it would not be properly policed and requested that an-
other sight be chosen for the public ramp.
Moved by Councilman Rich; . seconded by Justice Demarest;
RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approves the action of the Fishers
Island Ferry District in advertising for bids and the purchase of one
25-man life raft for the ferry owned and operated by the Fishers Island
Ferry District. _

WHEREAS, Wunneweta Pond Association, Nassau Point, applied to the Town
Board for financial assistance in dredging the entrance of Wunneweta Pond,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia be and he
hereby is authorized to contribute half of the total cost up to but not
to exceed the sum of $475.00 toward the cost of dredging, the entrance
to Wunneweta Pond.

Demarest and Suter.
Justice Martin Suter will investigate the request for lights at Captain
Kidd Estates, Mattituck, New York.

RESOLVED: That Superintendent of Highways Dean be and he hereby is auth-
orized- to advertise for bids and award the contract for the repairs of
a Payloader at the Town Disposal Area.

Demarest and Suter.

RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways Dean be- and he hereby is
authorized to advertise for bids and to purchase one 1970- car, one 1967
car to be taken in trade, all in accordance with the specifications
supplied by the Superintendent of Highways.-

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized to
advertise for bids and to purchase one 1970 car, a 1966 car to be taken
in trade, all in accordance with specifications supplied by Supervisor
Martocchia.

Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Rich;
WHEREAS,, a written petition, dated November 26, 1968, was duly filed
with this board requesting the improvement of highways in this town
known as Ed' s Road, Victoria Drive, Liberty Lane, Colonial Road, Summit
Road and Columbia Road, situate on Corey's Hill at Bay View, in said Town;
WHEREAS, said petition was duly signed by owners of real estate owning
real estate to the extent of at least one-half- of the entire frontage
or bounds on both sides of that portion of such highways situate as
aforesaid and also signed by resident owners owning not less than one-
half of the frontage owned .by residentsowners residing in or along the
portion of such highways situate as aforesaid, and
WHEREAS, the said petition was duly acknowledged or proved as to each
signer in the same manner as required of a deed to be recorded, and
WHEREAS at a meeting of the said town board duly called and held on the
6th day of November 1969, an order was duly adopted by it and entered in
its minutes reciting the filing of such petition, the improvement pro-
posed and the maximum amount proposed to be expended for the improvement
as stated in such petition, to wit, the sum of $6, 000. 00, and specifying
that the said board would meet to consider the petition and to hear all
persons interested in the subject thereof concerning the same, at the
Supervisor' s office, 16 outh Street, Greenport, New York, 11944, in
said Town of Southold, on the 9th day of December, 1969, at 7 :30 P.M. , and
WHEREAS, the said order, duly certified by the town clerk, was duly
published and posted as required by law, to wit, a duly certified. copy
thereof was published in the Suffolk Times the official paper of this
town, on November 21, 1969, and certified copies of such order posted on
November 21, 1969, conspicuously in five public places within the district,
to wit, along the highways to be improved and on the bulletin board in
the Town Clerk 's office, Town of 6outhold,

WHEREAS, a hearing was duly held by this town board at the place and
on the date and time hereinbefore mentioned, and at such place--and
time, the said town board did duly consider .the .said pet� tion .and- hear
all persons interested,
NOW, THEREFORE, after such hearing and upon the evidence given thereat
and pursuant to the provisions of Section 200 of the Town Law of the
State of New York, it -is hereby
RESOLVED that this board does hereby determine that it is in the public
interest to make the improvement petitioned for, to wit, to repair,
recontour and resurface where necessary the existing highways known
as Ed' s Road, Victoria Drive, Liberty Lane, Colonial Road, Summit
Road and Columbia Road; and it is further
RESOLVED that the Supt. of Highways of this town shall examine the
said highways and make a careful estimate of the expenses to. be
incurred .to accomplish the said highway, improvements and shall present
the same to this board as soon as reasonably possible.

Mrs. Robert Thompson protested by letter the labor camp on South Harbor
Lane, Southold, N.Y. and also the speed of cars on the monument corner,
Southold, . N.Y.
