HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-02/26/1962 Moved by Councilman Damarest; •.seconded by Justice Tuthill: WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Highways has advised the Town Board that the extremely icey condition of the roads this winter has required extraordinary and extensive salting and that during such emergency it was necessary that additional salt be purchased without delay, and WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Highways has also advised the Town Board that he deemed it necessaryto purchase said salt immediately and has requested that the Town Board ratify such purchase and approve the payment thereof, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the -Town Board does hereby deem such purchase by the Superintendent of Highways to be in all respects proper and does hereby ratify such actions of the Superintendent of Highways and does hereby approve the payment thereof. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: -Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and �Clark_ Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl;, WHEREAS, -Harold D. Price, Superintendent of Highways, informed this Board that the L. I. Produce and Fertilizer Company was •the .lowest bidder for a 1962 dump truck, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board approves the action of Harold Price, Superintendent of Highways, in the purchase of said truck in accordance with bids submitted. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: -Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Adjournment was at 4:25 P.M. Albert W. WE, the undersigned, being members of the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, do hereby severally waive notice of the time, place and purpose of the meeting.of the Town Board to be held at Greenport, in the Town of. Southold, New York, on Monday, February 26, 1962, and do hereby consent that the same be held on said date for the transaction of any business .which may properly come before said meeting. Dated: February 26, 1962, Southold, N. Y. Lester M. Albertson, Supervisor Ralph W. Tuthill, Justice Corwin C. Grathwohl, Councilman HenrV A. Clark, Justice Louis M. Demarest, Councilman Albert W. Richmond, Town Clerk A special meeting of the Southold Town Board was held at the Town Clerk ' s Office, Main Road, Southold, New York on Monday, February 26, 1962 , the members of the Board having waived notice of the time, place and purpose of the meeting. The meeting was called to order by the Supervisor, Lester M. Albertson, at 10. 30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Albert Richmond. The following resolution was offered by Justice Clark who moved its adoption, seconded by Justice Tuthill to wit: WHEREAS, the Town Board of the Town of Southold heretofore authorized the issuance of a deferredpayment note in the amount of $20, 000. 00 pursuant to a resolution adopted on February 2, 1959, in connection with the purchase of real estate for use as a public bathing beach and recreational area, which said note was dated and issued on March 3, 1959 54 to The First National Bank of Greenport, New York (now The.- Valley National Bank of Long Island) , and WHEREAS, by the terms of said deferred payment note resolution dated March 3, 1959, the deferred payment note authorized pursuant thereto provided for the payment of not less than 20/ of the aggregate principal amount of said note, together with interest at the rate of 2-1/2/ per annum, and WHEREAS, pursuant thereto, the sum of $4, 000. 00 was paid on account of said note on or about March 3, 1960, and a renewal of said note in the principal amount of $16, 000. 00 was then duly executed and delivered by the Supervisor of the Town to The First National Bank of Greenport, New York (now The Valley National Bank of Long Island) , and on or about March 3, 1961 a second renewal thereof in the amount of $12, 000. 00 was duly executed and delivered to said Bank, and said note -was due and payable on March 3,, 1962, and the Town Board desires to pay the sum of not less than 20/ of the aggregate principal amount of said note, to wit, the sum of $4, 0.00. 00 and to issue a renewal deferred payment note for the unpaid balance of principal due thereon, to wit, the sum of $8, 000. 00. 1 e NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED that the Town _Board of the Town of Southold,. Suffolk County, New York does hereby authorize the issuance of a deferred payment note- in the principal amount of $8, 000. 00 for a term of one year with ,inter_est at the rate of 2-1/2/, payable at maturity, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the. power to. sell such deferred payment note is hereby delegated to the Supervisor, the chief fiscal officer. Such note shall be of such terms, form and contents, and shall be sold in such manner, as may be prescribed by the Supervisor, consistent with the provisions of the Local Finance Law. The question of the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly put to a vote on roll call, which resulted as follows: Supervisor Albertson voting yes; councilman Grathwohl voting yes; Councilman Demarest voting yes; Justice Tuthill voting yes; Justice Clark voting yes.
