MEETING OF FEBRUARY 6, 1962.
The Southold Town Board met at the office of the- Supervisor, Lester M.
Albertson at Greenport, on Tuesday, February 6, 1962 at 3: 00 P.M. with
the Following present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and
Grathwohl; Justices Tuhill and Clark; Supt . of Highways Price; Town Attor-
ney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of January 11, 1962 be and they hereby are
duly approved. - Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen
Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl;
RESOLVED: That minutes of Special meeting of January 19, 1962 be and they
hereby are duly approved. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson;
Councilman Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of the Town Board will be held
at the Supervisor Office, 16 South Street, Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday,
Feb. 20, 1962 at 3: 00 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson;
Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
RESOLVED: That the report of Albert W. Richmond, Town Clerk, for the month
of January, 1962 be accepted by the Town Board and placed # file.
Vote of .Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and
Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark .

RESOLVED: That the report of Ralph P. Cox, Dog Warden, for the month of
January 1962, be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That the report of the Auxiliary Police for the month of
January, 1962 be accepted by the Town Board and U placed on file .

RESOLVED: That the annual report of Ralph P . Cox, Dog Warden, be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor
Albertson;. Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justice Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That the report of Howard M. Terry, Building Inspector, for the
month of. January, 1962, be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That the report of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson for - the month
of January, 1962, be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That the Police Report for the month of January, 1962 be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Albertson be and he hereby is authorized to
advertise for proposals to furnish to the Town of Southold one boat,
motor and trailer for use by Bay Constable. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-
Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill
and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark;
RESOLVED: That Bond #924501, issued by the Traveler Indemnity Co. , in
the name of W(blfred Sinclair in the sum of $5000.00 be and the same is
hereby approved as to its .form, 'manner of execution and sufficiency of
sureties therein. Vote of Town Boarid: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Council-
men Demarest and Grathwohl; Jutices Tuthill and Clark.

WHEREAS, a resolution passed by the Board 'on January 4, 1962, authoriz-
ing the Supervisor to contribute .to Gardiners Bay Association Town .Funds
not to exceed half of the cost ap to but not exceed the sum of $475 .00

guard the cost of dredging Spring Pond at East M rion, N.Y. ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board rescinds the said
resolution of January 4, 1962 .

Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest;
RESOLVED: That .Bond #924500, issued by the Traveler Indemnity Co. in the
name of Ernest Boles in 'the sum of $5000.00 be and the same is hereby
approved as to its form, manner of execution and sufficiency of sureties
therein. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; ouncilmen
Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson be and he hereby is author-
ized and directed to advertise for bids for proposals to furnish short
coats to the Southold Town Auxiliary Police .
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and
Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That Supt. of Highways Price be authorized to purchase `one
radio for the Town Highway truck. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor
Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson be and he hereby is author-
ized to purchase and have installed a chain link fence across the south
side of the Southold Town Dump. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor
Albertson; Councilmen Dmmarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That General Bills in the sum of_ $8, 591 :55; Lighting District
Bills in the amount of $13, 048.30 and Fishers Island Ferry District Bills
in the sum of $8, 046 :74 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes- upervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and
Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
In accordance with Section 148 of the' Education Law, Supervisor Albert-
son appointed Mrs. Florence Kramer of Southold, N.Y. to the position of
Town Historian. This position became vacant due to the death of our former
Historian,, Wayland Jefferson.
The Supervisor was .directed by the Board to transmit the request of Mrs.
Mallory of New Suffolk, N.Y. for a speed .limit on New Suffolk Lane from
Grathwohl Road to New Suffolk Avenue, to the County Supt. of Highways
and the State Traffic Commission.

The Supervisor was directed to write to Matthews and Ostrander regarding
their request for quitclaim deed on Fishers Island and informing them
that inasmuch as we do not have title to the property concerned, we are
not in a position to comply with their request.
It was decided by tkef:� Town Board to had la joint meeting with the
Planning Board and the Board of Appeals on February 26, 1962 at 7: 30
P.M. at the Town Clerk' s Office, Southold, N.Y.
A letter was received from the State Traffic Commission denying the
request for a speed limit on Depot Lane, Cutch ogue, N.Y. ,
Supervisor Lester M. Albertson advised the Board that he appointed
Curtis William Horton as Fire Warden for Robins Island and that he had
also appointed Leander Glover, Jr. and Frank B. Rogers, Jr . as Fire
Wardens to act in the absence of said Curtis William Horton, said
appointments being made pursuant to , Section 29 Subdivision 12 of the
Town Law and Section 52 Subdivision 3 of -the Conservation Law. . Corwin
G. Grathwohl, a member of the Board, is hereby designated as Super3n
tendent of Fires of the Town of Southold for the ensuing year, to act
in case of the absence of the Supervisor.
