WHEREAS, the Town Board of the Town of Southold agrees in principal that
a Saline Water Plant Commission would be desirable in this locality,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Albertson be instructed
to contact the necessary government officials in an effort to have said
Saline Water Commission located -in .the Town of Southold.

MEETING OF JANUARY 11, 1962.
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Lester M.
Albertson at Greenport, on Thursday, January 11, 1962. The meeting
was called to order at 3: 00 P.M. with the following present: Super-
visor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill
and. Clark; Town Attorney Tasker; Supt. of Highways and Town Clerk
Richmond.
Moved by Councilman Grathwohl; seconded by Justice Clark;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the Annual Meeting of January 4, 1962
be and they are duly approved.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl;
RESOLVED: That the next monthly meeting of this Town Board will be
held at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson at 16 South
Street, Greenport, New York, on Tuesday, February 6, 1962 at 3: 00 PM.
Vote of Town Board:. Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest
and Grathwohl; Jutices Ttbhillaadd Clark.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson be and he hereby is
authorized to pay to the Libraries of the Town of Southold one half
the amount of appropriation for each Library, the balance to be
paid on or about June 30, 1962.

RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson be and he hereby is
authorized to pay to the Historical Societies of the Town of Southold
one half of the amount appropriated for each':Historical Society, the
balance to be paid on or about June 30, 1962 .

f WHEREAS, the Burton Potter Post #185 American Legion has applied to
the Town Clerk of the Town of Southold for a Bingo License, and
WHEREAS,. the Town Board has examined the application and after invest-
igating the matter, duly made findings and determinations as required
by law,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he 1weby
is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the Board the
findings and determinations required by law, and it is further

RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to issue
a Bingo License to the Burton Potter Post #185 American Legion.

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry
District has by contract retained the firm of Johnson and Williams,
Public Accountants, of 774 Board Street, .Waterford, Conn. , to perform
auditory and accounting service for said District effective January
1, 1962 to December 31, 1962 at the annual fee of $900.00 to be paid
quarterly,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approves
said Contract.

RESOLVED: That Walter F. Griffin, Sr . be engaged under contract to
provide a mail transfer and haulage service for the Fishers Island
Ferry District for a period from January 1, 1962 through December 31,
1962 inclusive, in accordance with terms .and conditions of the con-
tract submitted by the Board of Commissioners and be it further ,
RESOLVED: That the effective date of such service shall be Januaryl, .
1962 and the amount of compensation for such service shall .be $115 .00
per month, payable monthly.

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Fishers Isaand Ferry District
at a meeting held December 6, 1961 by resolution granted Ernest John
Bowles, purser of the M,/V Mystic Isle an increase of $400.00 in his
annual compensation effective as of January 1, 1962,- ,and
WHEREAS, the Town Board of the Town of Southold has requested that
said resolution be amended to show subject increase is a merit in-
crease only and not to be considered as an annual increment to be
given each year,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That subject resolution of the Board, of
Commissioners of December 6, 1961, relative to an increase of '$400.00
in the annual compensation of Ernest John Bowles, purser is hereby
amended to read as follows;
Quote "And be it resolved that said increase of $400.00 per year shall
be effective as of January 1, 1962 and shall be considered as a merir
increase and not an annual increment to be regularly given each year.

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District
on December 6, 1961, adopted a resolution creating the position of
freight agents and establishing annual compensation therefor as follows:
New London Terminal Freight Agent-------$4, 200.00 per year
Fishers Island Terminal Greight Agent--- 4, 600.00 per year
and
WHEREAS, said Board of Commissioners _at a meeting held on December 21,
1961, adopted a resolution appointing John Pickett as the freight
agent at Fishers Island at an annual compensation of $4, 600.00 and
appointed Elizabeth Wilcox as freight agent at the New London, Conn.
terminal . at an annual compensation ef .$4, 200 .00 and appointed Rowland
Oswald as relief agent at Fishers Island at an annual compensation
of $4, 600 .00, and
WHEREAS, said resolutions were submitted to this board for its approval,
and

WHEREAS, the Town Board has given the subject dY these resolutions
considerable deliberation and believes that the action of the Board
of Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District in adopting said
resolutions was not in the best interest of said district,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; That the Town Board does not approve
of the action of the Board of Commissioners of the Fishers Island
Ferry District in adopting the aforesaid resolutions.

Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That Bond No. 735-688, issued by the Aetna Casualty and Surety
Company in the name of Raymond Doyen, Commissioner Secretary of Fishers .
Island Garbage and Refuse District in the sum of $1000 .00 be and the
same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution and suff-
iciency of sureties therein.

Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That Bond No. 73S-687, issued by the Aetna Casualty & Surety
Company in the name of James S. Pickett, Commissioner of Fishers Island
Garbage and Refuse District in the sum of $1000.00 be and the same
is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution and sufficiency
of sureties therein.

RESOLVED: That Bond No. 73S-689, issued by-the Aetna Gasualty and Surety
Company in the name of Elizabeth McCloskey, Commissioner Wreasurer of
the Fishers Island Garbage & Refuse District in the sum of $20, 000 be
and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution and
Sufficiency of sureties therein.

RESOLVED: That the Supplement Annual Report of the Town Clerk for

RESOLVED: That the Supt. of Highways be authorized to advertise for
bids for one (1) New 1962 International Dump Truck Model R192 complete
with one new Gar-Wood Model G-C-2-4- Yard dump body with Model A-50-10-
ton hoist, or equal, specificationsof which may be obtained at the off-
ice of the Supt.' of Highways, Peconic, N.Y. One International Dump
Truck must be taken in trade, as part payment on new truck.

and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $8, 425 .74; Lighting District
Bills in the amount of $2,404 .30; Fishers Island Ferry District Bills
in the amount of $8,487 .61 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.

RESOLVED: That the Police Report for the month of December be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on file.

and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
The question of forming two light districts was discussed at great length,
one to be at Eugene Heights and one at Greenport. It was decided to find
out how the people felt about a light district which would include all
land between Mill Creek and East Marion Light District.

SPECIAL MEETING OF JANUARY 19, 1962 .
WAIVER OF NOTICE OF TOWN BOARD MEETING
We, the undersigned, being members of the Town Board of the Town of-
Southold, Suffolk County, New York, do hereby severally waive notice of
the time, place and purpose of the meeting of the Town Board to be held
at Greenport, in- the town of Southold; New York, on Fih±day:;-,.January 19,
1962, and do hereby consent that the same be held on said date for the
transaction of any business which may properly come before this meeting.

A ppecial meeting of the Southold Town Board was held at the Supervisor ' s
Office, 16 South Street, Greenport, N.Y. the members of the Board having
waived notice of the time, place and purpose of the meeting. The meeting
was called to order by the Supervisor at 9: 00 A.M. with the following
present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices
Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond.

WHEREAS, the accounts of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson were audited and
the annual report was filed,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That such annual statement of Supervisor
Lester M. Albertson be entered in detail in the minutes of this meeting
by the Town Clerk as required by Section 105 of the Town Law.

WHEREAS, the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District wish to
advertise for bids and contract to furnish labor and material to erect a
sheet pile bulkhead at the New London Terminal at the Fishers Island Ferry
District, located at the foot of State Street, New London, Conn. and to
replace one pile of the five (5) pile delphih,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approves of
the action of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District .

had drawn up a contract for the operation of the Mystic Isle for the period
Jan. 1, 1962 through December 31, 1962, and.
WHEREAS, the ~Board of Commissioners have advertised for bids for said
operation and have -received two bids, and
