April 18, 2023 — Via In -Person and Zoom
Present: Pat Lutzky, Eric Dantes, Marilyn Sierra, Cheryle Amara, Anne Smith, Mark Levine.
Absent: Nancy Messer, Jill Doherty, Mara Cerezo
Guests: None
Meeting began at 4:30 p.m.
1. Approval of Meeting Minutes
a. March 21, 2023 Meeting Minutes —Mark Levine made a motion to approve the
meeting minutes. Cheryle Amara — 2nd. Approved unanimous.
2. Housing Plan
a. It was generally agreed that there needs to be a lot of community outreach. Pat
stated that HAC needs to convey to the Town Board that HAC is supportive of the
Housing Plan.
b. Mark represented HAC in the drafting of the Housing Plan.
c. It was discussed that a critical amount of data in the housing survey comes from
older population. Reviewing the details of the respondents to the survey, HAC
learned that 47.6% are over age 65. HAC believes this is not a broad enough
sampling of the population and more might need to be done to reach a wider
demographic.
d. The plan discusses potential allocations of how funds could be used.
e. As to the qualifications of a Housing Program Manager, candidates should be
knowledgeable about housing programs at county and state levels.
3. Updates on ADU Grant
a. HAC needs more clarification.
b. What direction does HAC want to take on educating the community on ADUs?
c. Who will enforce ADUs once completed?
d. Further discussion on the topic was tabled.
4. Current Projects
a. HAC is interested in the town's plan to issue an RFP for the potential development
of the Carroll Avenue property.
b. No other new information at this time.
5. New focus —better use of HAC's time and energy
a. Limit focus on new development and focus on existing structures that maybe
suitable for rehabilitation as affordable housing sites.
6. New Business
a. Catapano farm is for sale, 3 to 4 acres.
7. Old Business
a. None
8. Motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:45 pm by Cheryle Amara, Eric Dantes, 2nd. Approved
unanimously.
