HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/23/2026 7/6/2026 Town of Southold Community Development and Housing Department (CDHD) Community Housing Advisory Board – Minutes June 24th , 2026: 4:15 pm, Annex Building Executive Board Room Present: Committee Chair John Stype, Tanya Palmore, Lori Cohen, Erica Steindl, Erin Kaelin, Scott Edget Absent: Beth Cashel, Diana Gordon, William Araneo, Mark Levine Ex-officio: Community Development Project Supervisor Andrea Sullivan, Assistant Town Attorney Julie McGivney, Councilwoman Anne Smith, Councilwoman Alexa Seuss 4:15 p.m. Motion was offered to open the meeting. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Committee Chair John Stype, Tanya Palmore, Lori Cohen, Erica Steindl, Erin Kaelin, Scott Edget 1. Approval of Minutes of May 2026 Meeting a. May 6th, 2026 Meeting Minutes – Motion to approve Erica Steindl, Tanya Palmore 2nd, Approved unanimously. 2. CHAB Overview – Where we started, where we are, and the status of the Housing Department – Andrea a. Andrea gave a brief overview of the status of the CHAB and the Housing Department. Andrea’s role will now be housed within the Planning Department in Southold Town. b. Andrea clarified that when the CHAB was initially formed during the creation of the Community Housing Plan, its purpose was to provide commentary and insight on the proposed sections of the plan. Since then, the CHAB has proved to be a committee with a long-standing purpose to review projects and certain programs through the CHF. c. Andrea noted that all members should be aware of the commitment required of the CHAB and confirmed that, at this time, consistent meetings will be necessary while the housing programs are being implemented. 3. Roles and Responsibilities of the CHAB – Review of Procedural Guidelines – Andrea and Julie a. Andrea reviewed the procedural guidelines for the CHAB and stated the mission, role, structure and operating procedures for the board. b. Andrea noted that there will be additional updated procedural forms and eventually a workbook of how the CHAB will function. c. Julie McGivney went through the rules of executive session noting that the rules outlined are rules set out by NY Open Meetings Law so they cannot be altered. 7/6/2026 Town of Southold Community Development and Housing Department (CDHD) Community Housing Advisory Board – Minutes June 24th , 2026: 4:15 pm, Annex Building Executive Board Room 4. Future Monthly Meeting Schedule a. Present CHAB members confirmed that the 3rd Wednesday of every month would be a good time to have set meetings. b. Andrea clarified that meetings may not always be required every month and if they are cancelled/unnecessary that she will advise. 5. Executive Session a. Real property acquisition/sale/lease when publicity would substantially affect value. 6. Motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:15 p.m. by Erica Steindl, Tanya Palmore, 2nd. Approved unanimously.
