Call to Order: Chairperson Paul called the meeting to order.
• Old Business
Organizational/Documents-Jack will consolidate and present with Rich at next meting.
Survey-The Committee discussed the timeline for the Business Survey. Paul and Brian reported that they
have been working on the survey and asked the Committee to provide feedback within one week for review.
A final version will be distributed to the Committee before the August meeting. Following incorporation of
any comments, a final version will be distributed to Committee members prior to the August meeting to allow
time for any final revisions before the survey is launched.
Brian explained that the survey distribution would not rely on scraping business information from multiple
online platforms. Instead,the Town will first utilize its existing business database and Constant Contact
distribution list, supplemented by outreach through Meta,local news outlets,the Town website, and other
appropriate communication channels to reach the target audience.
The Committee also discussed the survey's duration and agreed that the timeline could be adjusted, if
necessary, based on response rates.The goal is to receive approximately 400 to 600 completed responses.
• New Business
Community Center Proposal - Nikki Helf and Joe Aiello of Aldrich Sports attended the meeting to present
their concept for a proposed community center located off Carol Avenue.They sought feedback from the
Committee regarding whether the Economic Development Committee could provide guidance or assistance
as the project relates to economic development within the Town.
Committee members discussed the potential economic and community benefits of the proposal and offered
several resources and suggestions for consideration.The Committee expressed its willingness to serve as a
resource and to provide guidance where appropriate, particularly regarding the positive economic
development opportunities the proposed community center could bring to the local community.
