WE, the undersigned, being members of the Town Board of the Town of
Southold, Suffolk County, New York, do hereby severally waive notice
of the time, place and purpose of the meeting of the Town Board to
be held at Greenport„ in the Town of Southold, New York, on Thursday,
November 17, 1960, and do hereby consent that the same be held on
said date for the transaction of any business which may properly come

-SPEE1AL-MEETING OF NOVEMBER 17, 1960
A special meeting of the Southold Town Board was held at the Supervisor ' s
Office., 16 South Street, Greenport; N.Y. on Thursday, Nov. 17, 1960, the
members of the Board having waived notice of the time, place and purpose
of the meeting. The meeting was called to order bqi Supervisor Henry H.
Tuthill at 7: 30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Henry H.
Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson�!t. and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark;
Supt. of Highways Price; Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond.
Recess was called to discuss the East-West Fire District with the
committee from the Greenport Fire Department.
Moved by. Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the Supt. of Highways of the Town of Southold be and he
hereby is authorized to enter upon any lands adjacent to any Town
Highway .to remove any fence or other obstruction which causes snow to
drift in and upon such highway and to erect snow fences or other devices
upon such lands to prevent the drifting. of snow in or upon such highways.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and
Demarest; Justices Tuthill. and Clark.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Namarestz
WHEREAS, James P. Mellas will have completed six months satisfactory
service as Watchman for the Town of Southold on Dec. 4, 1960,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That effective as of Dec. 4, 1960.
James P. Mellas will be increased 50 cents per day.

RESOLVED: That inasmuch as the required dedication and release have
been duly received, map of same duly filed and the necessary papers

situated at Peconic, Town of Southold, Suffolk County,NY
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and
Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
WHEREAS, the Supervisor of the Town of Southold is in receipt of a letter
dated October 26, 1960 from the Suffolk County Civil Service Commission,
together with a list of eligible persons to be used for permanent appoint-
ments of Police Patrolmen, which letter states that as a result of a
new state law, it is not possible for the Commission to certify lists
containing only nmmes of local residents, and
WHEREAS, athe new state law referred to in said letter of the Suffolk
County Civil Service Commission (Chapter 1084 of the Laws of 1960)
applies only to members of a police force, and

WHEREAS, the. Town of Southold has not established a Police Department
or Police Force, and does not now maintain a Police Department or Police
Force in the Town of Southold,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor of the 'Town of
Southold be and he hereby is authorized and directed to advise the
Suffolk County Civil Service Commission of this fact and to further
request said Commission to revise its eligible list, as it applies to
the Town- of Southold, to comprise only those persons who are residents
of the Town of Southold.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town. Board of the Town of Southold
although not governed by the provisions of Chapter 1084 of the Laws
of 1960, hereby states that it is opposed to an�y... law compelling
appointment to positions in the Town of Southold of persons who are
not residents of the Town of Southold, .
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilman Albertson and
Councilman Demarest; Juatices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Councilman Demarest:
RESOLVED: That the Building Zone OrdinanceJof the Town of Southold
Suffolk County, New York, be amended as follows to wit:-
l . By amending Article 1, Section 100 by adding thereto a new paragraph
to be Paragraph 23B to read as follows:
23B .Tourist Camp - Any lot, piece or parcel of ground where two or,
more tents, tent houses, camp cottages, house cars or house trailers
used as living or sleeping quarters are or mgy be . located, said camp
being operated for or without compensation.
II By amending Article IIIA Section 350 by adding thereto A. new para-
graph to be Paragraph 4A to read as follows:
4A Tourists Camp, when approved as a special exception by the Board
of Appeals -as hereinafter provided.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That!-.the Town Clerk be and he hereby is author-
ized and directed to transmit a copy of this reslolution to the Planning
Board of the Town of Southold together with a written request instruct-
ing the said .Planning Board to prepare an official report thereon pur-
suant to the provisions of Article IX of the Building Zone Ordinance
of the Town of Southold.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and
Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
