HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-10/25/1960 MEETING OF OCTOBER 25, 1960. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Henry H., Tuthill at Greenport, New York, on October 25, 1960. The meeting was •-called to order at 7:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and .Clark; Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond;. At 7:30 P.m. in accordance with the notice_; published , according.,to law, bids were opened for proposals to furnish to the Town of Southold police uniforms. Only one bid was submitted which was by the Calub Smith & Sons Inc. . The Board reserved decision until Chief Otto Anrig could examine the bid and consideration of the bid would be taken up at a later date. The Supervisor opened the public hearing. on_the application of. the Mattituck Council #34 Jr —Order United American, Mechanicsor. a change of Zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural. District to "B" Business District and the application of Frank Pumillo for a change of zone from "A" Agricultural & REsidential District to ",B" Business District on the remainder of his property located southerly from an existing "B" Business-District, MHttituck, New York:, The minutes of the hearing were recorded by Judith Boken. Moved by Councilman Albertson;. seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Southold Board of Appeals_, Planning Board, Building Inspector and Secretary be and hereby are authorized to. attend the Zoning Convention to be held Saturday, December 10, 1960; at the Inter- national Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Building on Pinelawn Road, Huntington, N.Y. and be 'it. ,further RESOLVED: That the necessary- expenses of $7.50 for each member while attending said Convention be a legal charge against the. Town. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of October 10, 1960, be and hereby are duly approved as .read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demaeest; Justices Tuthill and -Clark. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justtice Clark: RESOLVED: That' the-'regular monthly meeting of the Town Board will be held Ott the office of Supervisor Henry H. Tuthill, 16 South street, Greenport, N.Y. on Thursday, November 10, 1960, at 1:30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That a public Hearing on the question of granting a Franchise to the Village of Greenport to erect and maintain electric power lines in School District No. 10 be held in the Supervisor' s Office, 16 South Street, Greenport, N.Y. on Thursday, November 10, 1960, at 7:30 P.M. and that the Town Clerk cause a notice of said hearing to be published in the Long Island Traveler-Mattituck .Watchman at least ten days prior to said hearing. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-.Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson . and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and' Clark. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Harold D. Priee, Supt. of Highways, be and he hereby is authorized and directed to enter into . a contract with George W. Smith & Sons .to reroof the west barn of the Highway;. Department, the sum not to exceed $684.00. Vote of Tow Boards- Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; c nouncilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. . 119 Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Albertson: RESOLVED: That inasmuch as. the required dedication and release have been duly received, map of same duly filed, and the necessary papers signed, that the Town Board take over and maintain as public highway BIRCH DRIVE, situated at Laurel, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. , .Moved by .Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That inasmuch as the required dedication and release have been duly received, map of same duly filed and the necessary papers signed, that the Town Board take over and maintain as public highways FISHERS ROAD and FRED STREET, situated at New Suffolk, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS, George Alec by petition verified on August 2, 1960, petitioned the Town Board &or a change of zone of certain real property described in said petition from "A" Residential & Agricultural District to "C" Industrial District and WHEREAS, the said petition was referred to the Planning Board for its official recommendation and rr-eport and WHEREAS, the Planning Board has filed its official report with the Town Board, and WHEREAS, :the Town Board pursuant to due notice thereof, held a hearing on said petition on October 4, 1960, at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the relief demanded in said petition of George Alec be and the same is in all respects denied. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Albertson: WHEREAS, Mattituck Council #k44 Jr. Order United American Mechanics by petition verified the loth day of September, 1960, petitioned the Town Board for a change of zone on certain real property described in said petition from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business District, and WHEREAS, �.�:the petition was referred to the Planning Board for its official recommendation and report, and WHEREAS, the Town Board pursuant to due notice thereof held a hearing on said petition on October 25, 1960, at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, Now, therefore, be it resolved; That the Sov@iold Town Building Zone Ordinance, including the Southold Building Zone Maps, be amended by changing from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to.. "B" Business District the following described property: ALL that certain tract or parcel of land situated at Mattituck, in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and more particularly bound- ed and described as follows: Parcel 1. Northerly by the highway, easterly by the burying ground, southerly by land formerly owned by the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Mattituck, westerly by land now or formerly owned:_:by-'-Mrs. Martha Hazard being fifty feet mx more or less in front and rear and 75 feet deep, and being the same premises conveyed to The First Meth- odist Church of Mattituck by deed recorded in the office of the Clerk of Suffolk County in Liber 78 of Deeds page 330 and also in Liber 456 ` of deeds at page 393 . Parcel II. Northerly by land formerly owned by the First Methodist gku$zk Episcopal church of Mattituck 54 feet, easterly by the Mattituck Free Cemetery grounds 55 feet, southerly by the Mattituck Free Cemetery grounds 54 feet, and westerly by the roadway leading into -the cemetery grounds 55 feet, being the same premises conveyed to the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Mattituck by deed dated May 29, 1897 and recorded 350 in the office of said Tounty Clerk in Liber 458 of Deeds at page 239 on June 1, 1897 being part of the same premises conveyed to the Brooklyn Church Society of the Methodist .tpiscopal Church by deed recorded in the office of the Clerk of Suffolk County in Liber 955 of Deeds page 560 on- the. 4th day of October: 1917 referred to in said deed as Par.c81 1 and Parcel 2. The report of Howard M. Terry, Building Inspector, on attendance 8t the meeting of the New York State Conference of Building Officials held at Latham, New York,. on October 7, 1960, was read and placed on file. Action by the Town Board on the petition of Frank Pumillo for a change of zone is postponed to a later date. Adjournment was at 10:00 P.M'. Albert W. Richmond Town Clerk
