The .Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Henry H. Tuthill
at Greenport, on Tuesday, August 9, 1960. The meeting was called to
.order at .1: 30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Tuthill;
Councilmen Albertson and Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Supt.
of Highways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the Town Board make its official visit to Fishers Island
on Tuesday, August 23, 1960, The meeting will be called to order at
1: 30 P.M. . The Supervisor is hereby authorized to provide transportat-
ion. The boat will leave Mitchell ' s. Dock in Greenport at_ 9.: 00 A.M.

RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of June 12, 1960 be and they
hereby are duly approved as read.

RESOLVED: . That the minutes of the Special Meeting of July 21, 1960,
be and they hereby are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Tuthill; Councilmen Albertson and
Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Mr . W.illiam_Pollert and Dr. Philip Betz .appeared before the Town Board
requesting that something be done about boats speeding and skiing too
near the swimmers and docks in the Town. The Board .informed them that
an ordinance was being considered and that the Town would have an
ordinance in the near future.
Mr. Ernest G. Radford appeared before the Board suggesting that the
Town purchase the property located at Long Island Sound on the wester-
ly line of Sound Avenue and the northerly line of Sound Drive at Green-
port, N.Y. . The Board informed Mr. Radford that they were interested
in, the property and would discuss it at a later date.
Letters were received fromMrs. Jerome Applequest thanking the Police
Officers for their kindness 'when her car broke-down on the highway,
from Mrs. Keogh: for prompt attention when her 9mrri rlwza r; -rdp'grted- msks-
lpg-and.--fr.om Mr-s. Doyle when her friend' s dog was hit by a passing car.
Moved by Councilman' Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
WHEREAS, the Southold. Fire Department has applied to the Town Clerk
for a Bingo License, and
WHEREAS, the Town Board has examined .the application and after invest-
igating the matter, duly made findings and determinations as- required
by law,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby
is authorized and directed to' execute on behalf of the Town Town Board
the findings and determinations required.by law, and it is further
RESOLVED: that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to issue
a_ Bingo License to the Southold Fire Department.

WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #185 has applied to the
Town Clerk for a Bingo Licence and
WHEREAS, {.the Town Board has examined the application and after in-
ye9tigating the matter duly made findings and determinatiars as required
by law,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED.: That the Supervisor be and he hereby
is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the Board the find-
ings and determinations required by law, and it is further
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to issue a
Bingo license to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #185 .

The Town Board requested that the Planning Board determine and recommend
the exact area to- be included within the "B" Business District change
at Laurel, N.Y. on the properties from Aldrich Lane westerly to and in-
cluding the Eastern T.V. Store building and as much other property'of
Scholtz Sand Pit as may be determined necessary.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill.:
WHEREAS, a petition was received from George Alec requesting a change
of zone of certain property described in said petition from. "A" Resid-
ential and Agricultural District to °C" Industrial District, X
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT' RESOL7.EDr That the Town Clerk-.. of the Town of.
Southold be and he is hereby directed' to transmit this application to
the Planning Board in accordance with Section 901, .Subdivision C of
Article IX of the Building Zone - Ordinance of the Town of Southold,
Suffolk County, New York.

RESOLVED: That the report of Howard k. Terry, Building Inspector; for
the month of July be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board does hereby approve of the `con-
tract entered into by the Commissioners ,-,of the Fishers Island Berry
District with the A. C. Construction Co. in the amount of $'3, 985 .00_
for tepairs to the hanger building located at the former U. S. Govern-•
metn Airfield, pursuant to plans and specifications on file in the
District 'Office.

RESOLVED: That the salary of Frederick Marcell be and hereby is fixed
at $1.50 'per hour as a part time Police Patrolman (Constable) .

WHEREAS; Kurt O. Gronan, as president of Reydon Shores Property Owners ,
Association appled to the Town Board for some financial Assistance '
in dredging the harbor and lagoon at Reydon Shores,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Henry H. -Tuthill, Supervisor, be
and he hereby is authorized on behalf of the Town of Southold to con-
tribute a sum not to exceed $300.00 toward the cost of„dredging the
harbor and lagoon at Reydon Shores, Southold, Town of Southold, N.Y.

Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That Frank S. Dawson, of New Suffolk, N.Y. be and he hereby
is appointed, subject to the written approval of the District Superin-
tendent of Schools, Attendance Supervisor of all schools throughout the
Town except such schools as are otherwise provided for by Section 3213
of the Education Law, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That such Attendance Supervisor shall be re-
movable at the pleasure of the District Superintendent of Schools, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the compensation. of such Attendance Super-
visor be fixed at $120000 per year .payable in regular monthly install-
ments he to pay his own expenses, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is instruct-
ed to notify Frank S. Dawson and the .District Superintendent of Schools
of the appointment.

Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest:
WHEREAS, the temporary Suffolk County Advisory Agricultural Committee
has requested that the Town of Southold contribute a sum of $2500.00
to be used for the eradication of or control of Golden Nematode and
WHEREAS, of such sum so appropriated $5, 000.00 thereof remains unex-
pended to date, and after due allowance for outstanding claims and for
furhher expenditures chargeable against such appropriations or account,.
there is an unexpended balance in such appropriation or account in
excess of $2500.00
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that $2500.00 of said unexpended balance .
be and the same hereby is transferred to the eradication or control of
Golden Nematode account fund and that said sum of $2500.00 is hereby
appropriated for such purposeaand
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That pursuant to Chapter 569 of the Laws of 1960
the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to deliver a certified copy
of this resolution to the Supervisor of the Town of Southold and also
a certified copy to' the New York State Department of Agriculture and
Markets, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the supervisor of the Town of Southold be
and he hereby is directed to present a certified copy of this resolution
to the Suffolk County Board of ' Supervisors and to notify the State
Department of Agriculture and Markets in writing that said funds are-
available.

RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to request .-the
Long Island Lighting Company to install one 100 watt street light on
Pole ##46, Howard Avenue, corner of Westphalia Road in the Mattituck
Lighting District.

Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of -$6, 032.40; Lighting
District Bills in the amount of $2, 097.26; Fishers Island Ferry District
Bills in the amount of $12, 973 .22 be and the same are hereby ordered
paid.
