HomeMy WebLinkAboutSPD-02/16/1960 71 SOUTHOLD PARK DISTRICT SOUTHOLD, L.I. ANNUAL MEETING OF THE SOUTHOLD PARK DISTRICT FEBRUARY 16, 1960 8 P.M. I, Meeting called to order by Commissioner Jankowski. Call of meeting read by Treasurer John Conrad. The first order of business was to elect a Commissioner for three years in place of Mr. William Smith. Mr. John King and Mr . Parker Dickerson appointed tellers. Mr. William Smith nominated by Mr. Adamson, seconded by Mr. William Albertson. Regularly moved and seconded that nominations be closed, carried. 13 votes were cast. 13 favorable for Mr. William Smith. Mr. Smith declared elected. The 1961 budget was read. Total amount was $7, 970.00. After much discussion a vote was called for. There were 8 favorable ballots, 5 against and one blank ballot. Budget declared passed. Discussion about Founders Landing Beach being littered with trash during the summer. Lifeguard's job to keep this clean- ed up. Suggested that a cement platform with a shower be built outside the wharfhouse. Discussion on widening bulk- head so can be used to tie up more boats. Also spoke of putting in dock at Founders. Landing. Chairman Jankowski explained that the taxpayers would have to present a petition to the. Commissioners to start this. Mr. William Albertson spoke about having five Park Comm- issioners instead of three as at present time. Suggested that this be brought up at next annual meeting. Also it was suggested that a notice be put in the L. I. Traveler- Mattituck Watchman as to just what Parks belong to the Park District. Motion made and seconded that we have at least two meetings a year, first meeting the second week in February for the election of an officer or officers and a second meeting the second week in August to adopt a budget. This will go into effect in 1961. Motion carried. Suggested that Mr. Walter Gagen of the L. I. Traveler-Mattituck- Watchman be asked to have notice of meetings on front page. Motion made and seconded to adjourn. Carried. John T. Conrad, Treasurer Southold Park District.
