The following letter was received from John Wickham relative to
Golden Nematode:
Southold Town Board
Gentlemen:
This is to certify that the following action was taken by the
Southold Town Planning Board at its meeting on February 1, 1960.
In the matter of the proposed program for the eradication of
Golden Nematode, the Planning Board strongly recommends that the
Town Board of the Town of Southold take immediate steps to make
available funds for the eradication and control of this pest.
We believe that the positive approach to this problem offers
more hope, but also at the present time we appear to have' an
unique opportunity of cooperating with state and .federal ,agencies
in a new plan, namely treatment by fumigation of land not now
infested, but "operationally exposed" .
Very truly yours,
John Wickham, Chairman .
