Resolution Number 2026-438: Wireless Communications Master Flan
The proposed action to adopt the Wireless Communication Master Plan as part of the
Southold Town Comprehensive Plan has been reviewed to Chapter §268, waterfront
Consistency Review of the Town of Southold Town Code and the Local Waterfront
Revitalization Program (LWRP) Policy standards.
Based upon the information provided on the LWRP Consistency Assessment Form
submitted to this department, as well as the records available to me, it is my
recommendation that the proposed action is CONSISTENT with the policies of the
LWRP as follows:
Policy 1: Foster a pattern of development in the Town of Southold that enhances
community character, preserves open space, makes efficient use of infrastructure,
makes beneficial use of a coastal location, and minimizes adverse effects of
development.
There is a need for improved wireless services within the town and the master plan
balances the need for the installation of additional wireless facilities with the community
goals of protecting community character and minimizing the adverse effects of
development.
The plan recommends making efficient use of infrastructure by identifying the gaps in
cell service and proposing to limit new wireless infrastructure to just that which is
needed to fill those gaps. This will prevent the proliferation of unnecessary towers.
