SCTM# 1000-61-2-10.3 Owner: SOUTHOLD HISTORICAL SOCIETY RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, 54325. Main Road, Southold, NY, is on the Town of Southold Registry of Historic Landmarks; and WHEREAS, as set forth in Section 170-6 of the Town Law (Landmarks Preservation Code) of the Town of Southold, all proposals for material change/alteration must be reviewed and granted a Certificate of Appropriateness by the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission prior to the issuance of a Building Permit; and WHEREAS, the applicant submitted a proposal on May 20,2026, for an approval to construct egress l stairs in the rear of the existing commercial building(museum); and WHEREAS, the applicant's representative, Darren St. George, Executive Director, appeared before the Commission at a Work Session on May 28, 2026 to describe proposed aluminum egress stairs to be constructed in the rear of the museum, from second floor to grade, as depicted in Architectural Plans, Sheet A-1,prepared by Robert Stromski,Architect,last revised May 15, 2026; and WHEREAS, the Commission has determined that pursuant to Chapter 170-4(E)(2) of the Southold Town Code, the Commission has the authority to determine that some proposals do not rise to the level of requiring a public hearing, as the proposal is de minimis in nature; and WHEREAS, the Commission has determined that the subject application for the Certificate of Appropriateness is de minimis in nature, and therefore does not require a Public Hearing; and Certificate of Appropriateness,Res.#05.28.2026.2 HPC, Southold Historical Society,SCTM No. 1000-61-2-10.3 Page 2 WHEREAS, the applicant shall submit to the Commissioners photographs of the finished improvements upon completion; and WHEREAS,.the Commissioners may conduct a site inspection of subject premises once improvements are completed. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission determines that the proposed improvements consisting of aluminum egress stairs to be constructed in the rear of the museum;from second floor to grade,as depicted in Architectural Plans, Sheet A-1, prepared by Robert Stromski, Architect, last revised May 15, 2026, meets the criteria for recommendation under Section 170-8 (A) of the Southold Town Code; and r BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Commission approves the request for a Certificate of Appropriateness, subject to approvals by all involved agencies; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any deviation from the approved plans referenced above may require further review from the Commission. The documents you sent from the Planning Dept. included a survey prepared by R. Van Tuylson, LLS in 1970 (with handwritten notes), as well as architectural plans proposed in 1993. Is the survey consistent with the existing conditions? Once you have completed the HPC application for a Certificate of Appropriateness, submit same with three original Architectural Plans and request that the architect email a PDF to me. When I receive the completed application, I will forward same to the Commission and ask them if the copy of the 1970 survey drawn upon to create a site plan is sufficient. I will need a completed application (including the PDF) by May 22, 2026 in order to place the matter on our May 28, 2026 Work Session/Meeting.
