Southold Town Zoning Commission
July 10, 1956
The Southold Town Zoning Commission met in the Greenport office
Tuesday, July 10, 1956, at 8:45 P.M. Members present were: Mr. Doyen,
Mr. Gillisp ie, Mr. Reeve, Mr. VanDuzer and Mr. Wickham. Others: Super-
visor Klipp, Mr. R. G. '.ferry, Town Gounsel, Mr. Van Tuyl and Mrs.Wickham.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as read.
Mrs. Wickham reported that she had received an estimate from Aca-
demy Printing Enterprises on the printing of the Building Zone Ordinance.
She was instructed to ask estimates of the two newspapers in the town- as
well. It was moved by Mr. Gillisp ie, seconded by Mr. Doyen and voted
that the printing of the proposed Building Zone Ordinance be authorized
and that the Chairman and. Clerk be responsible for the details on the
most reasonable basis.
Mr. VanDuzer reported that expenditures:of tho: Commission to date
have been in the amount of $760.38.
Mr. Van Tuyl presented his resignation to the Commission because he
felt he could not as a member of the Commission accept payment for work
for the Commission. The resignation was accepted with deepest regret
and with appreciation and thanks for past serviced
Mr. Gillispie moved that Mr. Muddeman be retained as consultant
front July loth until the completion of the public hearings of the Zoning
Commission at a cost not to exceed $500. Mr. Reeve seconded this and it
was voted. The Chairman was designated to try to secure his services.
Dates for the hearings were set as follows: in a motion by Mr. Van
Duzer, seconded by Mr. Reeve: "July 24 at Mattituck School, July 25 at
Southold School and July 27 at Fishers Island School. Times of the meet-
ings 'are to be 8 P.M. in Mattituck and Oouthold, 2 P.M, on Fishers Is-
land. These dates were voted unanimously.
It was suggested that suggestions and objections concerning the Or-
dinance be presented in writing at the hearings and, that this notice be
inserted in the digest to be printed in the newspapers.
A digest of the Ordinance was presented by the Chairman for tentative
approval subject to its final form to be presented at a meeting of the
Commission next week - July 17th. This digest will be filed with the
Town Clerk as the preliminary report to the Town Board.
The term "Residential and Agricultural" was suggested and approved
for use in the Building Zone Ordinance instead of the word "Residence" as
used in connection with "Alt District. The Building Zone Ordinance was
gone over in its entirety, . and it was moved by Mr. Gillispie, seconded
by Mr. Reeve and voted unanimously that it be approved for publication
as finally revised on July 10, 1956.
The meeting adjourned at 11 P.M.
