Meeting of October 5; 1950
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp
at Greenport, on Thurs . , Oct 5, 1950. The meeting was called to order
at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; JusticesTerry,
Tuthill, Albertson, and Clark; Town Superintendent of Highways Price;
Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims against
the Town, concluding the audit work at 2:30 P.M.
The Kinutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That the Town Board does hereby approve the letter agreement
between the Fishers Island Ferry District and E. S. Wilcox in the operation
of the vessel Col. John E. Baxter in the sum of $ 119012.87 , from
Sept. lst to Sept. 30, 1950, both dates inclusive.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That the preliminary budget meeting of this Board be held at
the o.ffice, of the Supervisor at Greenport , on Sat. , Oct. 7, 1950, at 1:30 P .M. ,
Unanimously adopted.
Moved .by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That General Bills in the sum of $ 2,425.65; Lighting District
Bills in the sum of $ 2,24 5.17; Non-reimbursable Welfare Bills in the sum
of $ 22.31; Fishers Island Ferry,j�District Bills account #1 in the sum of
834.10; Fishers Island Ferry District Bills account #2 in the sum of
11,891.40; be and the same are hereby ordered paid.

Resolved: That the Police Report for the month of September be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on file. ,

Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry:
WHEREAS, Subdivision 8 .of Section 64 of the Town Law provides in
pertinent part that the Town Board may take by gift , grant, bequest or
devise and hold real and personal property absolutely for any public use,
upon such terms or conditions as may be prescribed by the grantor or donor
and accepted by the Town, and provide for the proper administration of
the same, add
WHEREAS, negotiations are under way for the conveyance to the Town of
Southold of a ' large tract of real property at Fishers Island, New York,
by the United States Government, said premises being part of Fort H.G. Wright
and consisting of land now used for an airfield (sometimes known as
Elizabeth Airfield) , together with a movie theater and other miscellaneom.s
buildings , said conveyance to be made upon certain terms and conditions
to be prescribed by the grantor , and
WHEREAS it is the considered opinion of the members of the Town Board
of the 'town of Southold that the acceptance of such a grant by the
Town of Southold is ih the best interests of the Town and would serve to
promote the best interests of the Town,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Supervisor of the Town of
Southold be and he hereby is authorized to continue negotiations for the
conveyance of sjid property at Fishers Island to the Town of Southold
and to accept such grant in the name of the Town of Southold, upon such
terms and conditions as the United States Government may require .
Unanimously adopted.
