The Board of Trustees reviewed your request to remove the Japanese Maple and large tree with swing on your property within 100' of the wetlands. These trees were reviewed and seen by Trustee Elizabeth Peeples on December 15, 2025. The Board of Trustees determined that the trees may be removed at this time. The Board of Trustees would like you to consider planting two (2) native hardwood trees with a minimum 2"-3" caliper anywhere on your property to help mitigate the loss of these trees. No permit will be required in order to perform this work. Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this office. This is not a determination from any other agency. I'm emailing about trees again.A neighbor was having some tree work done,so we asked their arborist about some trees on our property-small Japanese by water and large tree with swing.Sadly,they advised they are dead or dying. We're so disappointed as one serves as a swing for our kids but now we're concerned it's dangerous, not only for the kids but for the house too. Is the removal approval process still the same as before? Please find a photos of the trees attached. Our property address is 400 Lakeside Dr N, Southold NY 11971.
