Appointment Schedule Committee appointments are generally made during a Town Board meeting held in March. Appointments may also occur at other times of the year as vacancies arise. 2. Submission of Application Materials Both new applicants and current members seeking reappointments must submit a letter of interest and current resume to the Town Clerk's Office. The letter must identify the specific committee for which the applicant is seeking appointment and should include: • A statement of interest in serving • Relevant background, qualifications, or expertise • Any prior experience attending committee meetings or participating in related community initiatives Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend a committee meeting in advance to gain an understanding of the committee's responsibilities, anticipated time commitments, and overall scope of work. 3. Review and Interview Process Applications will be reviewed to determine alignment with the committee's current goals and needs. If an applicant's qualifications are deemed appropriate, the Town Board Liaison or Committee Chair will contact the applicant to discuss their interest and schedule an interview. 4. Notification of Appointment and Required Oath • Applicants selected for appointment will receive an email from the Town Clerk's Office outlining the steps required to complete the required Oath of Office. • Applicants not selected will receive an email acknowledging their interest and thanking them for applying. Their resume will be retained on file through the following March for potential consideration should additional vacancies arise. The Town of Southold values and appreciates the community's commitment to public service. Draft submitted by Councilwoman Anne Smith and Town Clerk Denis Noncarrow January 13, 2026 Page 4 of 4
