We currently lease and farm approximately 20 acres of the subject property and we anticipate to continue our operations into the future. The two proposed barns will not interfere with our intentions to continue farming and in fact, the proposed construction may facilitate our operations as Mr.Armstrong has generously offered to provide us with shared use of the Storage Barn. The eastern barn can be used for the temporary storage of our freshly picked fruits and vegetables as well as storage of farming materials and equipment including drip line, weed fabric, seeds, hand tools, picking bins, clothing and more. Additionally, upon review of the proposed construction and materials we find the architecture to fit with the rural nature of the Orient community. This is in addition to certain agricultural structures that were previously constructed on the property and will be retained, previously approved on the amended Tenedios site plan dated March 22, 2017 and last revised August 21, 2020. (Chicken Coop, Greenhouse and barn appear on the site plan as structures number 2,4, and 5 ) As you requested I hereby withdraw the amended site plan dated March 22, 2017 and last revised August 21, 2020, on condition and subject to approval of the site plan showing two smaller agricultural structures prepared by Marshall Paetzel, last dated January 6, 2026, as may be amended after final review by Land Preservation and the Planning Board. The current site plan, as pro-posed, has been crafted through careful consideration and is intended to better respect the rural character of the Orient community and foster open sky vistas. As such, the reduced building footprint and revised location is preferred to one large barn proposed by the prior owner Mr. Tenedios. The materials proposed for our two barns is wood and other natural materials, in lieu of the previously proposed metal and prefabricated buildings. However, if my proposed structures are not approved, then I reserve the right to construct the one barn, as shown on the "Amended site plan for Tenedios Farm last revised August 21,2020" which had received all regulatory approvals to construct. A great deal of time, money, and review process was expended on the Tenedios, barn which I prefer to not abandon until I know that my more modest and contextual plan is approved. Thank you for your courtesy. Very truly yours, ri n g Jeremy rin tro 28410 Main Road., Orient Narrow River Farm JAN 3 0 2026 SOU CHOLD TOWNPLANHIN-G BOARD We purchased the farm at 28410 Main Rd in May of 2023. The purchase included all structures, implements and animals as well as the Latham family as farming tenants. Little has changed at the property since the purchase, other than caring for the animals, enjoying the fruits of the land and planning for a future to live at the farm. The intent of this document is to shed some light as to who we are, explain what we would like to accomplish and describe how we plan to live. The concept is simple; we plan to create a productive homestead and live on a working farm. We are sensitive to a rapidly changing landscape; physically, socially and economically, and to that extent we are eager to provide stewardship for this land in a fashion that will respect and preserve its agricultural heritage while providing a pleasant aesthetic and a commitment to honoring the property's historical roots. This goal is more than a desire; it is a prompt to positively impact the North Fork and the Community found in Orient in the best way that we can. We plan to continue to raise livestock, grow appropriate crops and make products that come from the farm. The goats and the sheep are intended to remain on the property as well as the fowl and the horses, all in relatively small quantities. Each species will be afforded its own space to live and breed. Herd size will be commensurate with our ability to provide high quality care for the animals; we anticipate a total population of about 12 goats, 12 sheep, 6 horses and 50 birds. We have no intention to scale the livestock operation up, nor do we plan to slaughter, package or sell meat or poultry on the farm. We will continue to sell our chicken eggs and we endeavor to sell apple products from our orchard such as apple cider, apple butter and apple sauce. All sales efforts are intended to be modest; however, gross sales are anticipated to exceed the threshold for a bona fide farm operation. The attached plan depicts the two structures that we are asking for permission to build. The buildings have been placed on the property to be considerate of our neighbors and to the environment. We considered as many elements as we could including prevailing wind that can carry smell, proximity to wetlands, manure management logistics,, minimizing light pollution, creating a positive visual impact, considering horizon preservation, open sky impacts and more. The buildings are mainly diminutive in stature and spaced far enough apart to allow light and air to be minimally impacted. Additionally, we are currently designing landscape screening to further protect our neighbors to the west and to the north by adding coniferous trees in a thoughtful way to provide year-round screening in a pleasant manner. We will build all agricultural buildings from scratch from wood products. We do not intend to use metal "kit barns"that are commonplace in today's market. Livestock Barn-The horse barn will be able to hold 8 horses in total. We will be foaling new horses annually, and training them for sale. We do not expect to exceed 8 horses in total at any time. The barn will have skylights, numerous windows and have ample roof top mechanical ventilation. All manure will be collected and transferred further east from the barn and screened in so as to be unseen. Storage Barn- This barn will be constructed of post and beam wood timber and will be designed to process, store and sell agricultural products that were produced on this property. Such items include house canned goods, farm-made products, vegetables, cheeses and butters and more. We intend to use the balance of open space to continue farming operations with the Latham family. As such, we hope that we can find support from within the community to achieve our goals. We make ourselves available for questions and suggestions for how we can make the farm be as best as it can be.
