Southold Town Board of Appeals -2 December 20, 1962
MR. ROSENBERG: Does anyone wish to speak in favor of this
application?
MARY GOUBEAUD, Southold, New York: I have nothing, to add.
MR. ROSENBERG: Is the reason you wish this second wall
sign rather than a detached sign, because a detached sign must be
5 feet from the property line and there is not enough room therefore
you are willing to put the sign on the side of the building?
MRS. GOUBEAUD: Yes.
MR. ROSENBERG: Is there anyone who wishes to speak against
this application?
(There was no response. )
MR. ROSENBERG: Are there any questions?
(There was no response. )
After investigation and inspection the Board determined that
due to the size of the lot,, 40 feet width, and the type of building,
only 4 feet _Ries; between the side line and the building, the appli-
cant could not erect a ground sign. The applicant is permitted a
61-2 ft. by 122 ft. detached sign at this point provided 5 ft. setback
is retained.
Consequently the proposed sign approximately half the permitted
area placed on the side wall would be within the intent of the
Ordinance and the applicant having complied with the conditions and
standards set forth in the Ordinance the right to the special exception
exists.
On motion of Mr.. Bergen,. seaDnded by Mr. Grigonis, it was
RESOLVED that Mary Goubeaud, Salon' De Goubeaud, is granted
permission to erect a second wall sign on the north side wall of
a business building in lieu of a ground sign. Size of this sign
is 9 ft. in length by 5 ft. in width. Location of property: west
side Youngs Avenue, Southold, New .York.
Vote of the Board: Ayes: - Mr. Rosenberg, Mr. Bergen, and
