Supervisor Martocchia opened the meeting at 3 :00 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia Councilman James H. Rich, Jr. Councilman James Homan Justice Martin Suter Justice Louis M. Demarest Town Attorney Robert W. Tasker Highway Superintendent Raymond C. Dean Town Clerk Judith T. Terry Absent: Justice Francis T. Doyen On motion of Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, it was RESOLVED that the minutes of the Southold Town Board meeting held on June 21, 1977 be and hereby are approved as submitted. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. This resolution was declared drily adopted. On motion of Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman Homan, it was RESOLVED that the next regular meeting of the Southold Town Board will be held at 3 :00 P.M. , Tuesday, on July 19, 1977 at the Southold Town Hall, Main Road, Southold, New York.. Receipt of a letter from the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce requesting that the town board look into having the channel entrance dredged at James Creek, where the lack of water depth is fast becoming a serious threat to navigation and possibly great financial loss to property owners. This matter will be referred to the Suffolk. County Department of Public Works for consideration. 1 . 3. Letter from the supervisor of Islip Town relative to a resolution which is to be submitted to the County Legislature for its consideration proposing a local law requiring an endorsement on all subdivisions showing submission to the Suffolk County Planning Commission before they may be filed with the Suffolk County Clerk. The Village of Greenport has signed -the Dog Control Contract,-with the Town of Southold, .--however the:: contract will not be effective until'. it has been approved by the Commissioner. of Agricluture and Markets at Albany, 15. With reference to the E.D.A. Funds (Item 15 on the agenda) , 2.224 million dollars has- been awarded, there is some confusion' on this matter.- The Town of Southold is not exactly sure what the status is. Meeting -reconvened at 3-:3:5 P-:M. Mr. Nelson Axien; -Peconic, spoke - to the Board in--conn'ection with the' deveIopment'�of' -Blue-,Horizons "Subdivision adjacent-to the Peconic Homes Development. Peconic Homes has -an east-west road- which connects with Soundview Avenue and as- long-"as he can� remernber there has been talk of=,Soundview Avenue lrunning west to" connect.--with Oregon Road at-Bridge Lane:: ' The, Blue Horizons, Development has east west roads on its approved map, however; to be of any use to the public they must be dedicated to the town and made public. Mr. Axien urges that .the roads be made public-,- therefore continuing .toward the extension of Soundview,Avenue'- to Oregon Road. Supervisor Msrtocchi.a stated that -is- a good. point -and--the' matter-will be - discussed with the Planning Board, Mr. Richard Brooks , a teacher and coach at the Mattituck High- School, asked the Board's permission to use a 75ft. by 75ft. area toward the Southold Yacht Club as 2 volley ball courts. These would be semi-removable courts,, with four -cedar- posts- set- in' -the beach. He does not think the use-would interfer with bathers.. They- would have one practice a ,week in the afternoon; 'and' matches on Saturday, morning. All of the participants have joined the U.S . Volley Ball Association and therefore are covered ,by 'insurance and t1a0_' Town would not be responsible. Bathroom facilities will be provided at the Yacht Cl!4b and maintenance will be taken care of in this beach . area by the participants. On motion of Councilman Rich-,- seconded by(buncilman Homan, it was RESOLVED that Richard Brooks, Mattituck, New York, be and he hereby i3s granted permission to use a 75ft. by 75 ft. area at Goose Creek Beach, Southold to install four cedar posts and use as a volley ball court, provided the necessary insurance is obtained to hold the Town of Southold harmless. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. This resolution was declared duly adopted. On motion of Justice Suter, seconded by Justice Demarest, it was RESOLVED that the following audited bills be and hereby are ordered paid: General Fund bills in the amount of $45, 345. 20 ; Highway Department Bills in the amount of $12, 779. 26; Federal Revenue Sharing Bills in the amount of $22,440.63.
