MEETING :OF FEBRUARY -25, 1958.
The Southold Town Board met at the o�fice of Supervisor `Norman E.
Klipp at . Greenport , on Tuesday, February 25, 1958. The meeting was
called Ito order at 1:.30 P-1/1. with the following present.- Supervisor
Klipp; Councilmen .Albertson and Demarest ; Justices Tuthill and Clark;
Superintendent of Highways P rice ; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk
Booth.
Moved by .Justice Clark;' seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of February 6 and 17 be .^nd hereby are
duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; gouncilmen Albertson and
Demarest and Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly Audit meeting of this Board will
be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport
on Tuesdays March 11, 1958, at 1:30 P'.M-

Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
WHEREAS , the Town of ''outhold presently owns three heavy duty snow
plows , all 'of which. are Walter Snow Fighters , and
WHEREAS , such machinery is the only positive drive truck which will
meet the needs of such Town in clearing highways of large snow drifts ,
and
WHEREAS , the mechanics employed by the Town are familiar with :.and
experienced in the repair and maintenance of such equipment and main-
tain spare parts for such equipment,- some of which are interchangeable
with all Walter snow fighter equipment owned by the Town, and
WHEREAS , the factory for the manufacture of such equipment is located
on Long Island and the 'mechanics and repair parts are readily avail-
able to said Town in a matter of hours instead of days or weeks as is
the case with other manufacturers of similar equipment , and
1%HEREAS , th`e purchase of Walter Snow Fighters will contribute to. the
efficiency and economy of the Southold Town Highway Department ' now,
therefore , be it
RESOLVED that the Superintendent of 'Highways of the Town of Southold
be and he hereby is authorized to standardize on the purchase of snow
plbwing' equipment . bf over 30,000 gross vehicle weight and of over
1,000.' , arid he is hereby authorized ' to award purchase contr. -cts for
the purchase of Walter Snow Fighter equipment .

WHEREAS , the Town Board of , the Town of ''outhold did on the 25th day
of February, 1958, pass a ' Resolution authorizing the Sup 't . of High-
ways of the Town of Southold to standardize on the Walter Snow Fishier
in the purchase of all trucks over 30,000 - lbs . gross vehicle weight
which are to be used for plowing snow.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that the Sup 't. of Highways of the
Town- of Southold be and he hereby is authorised to advertise for bids
and purchase from• the' lowest bidder One Model A-S-B-S , 300 horsepower
Walter Snow Fighter.

At 2 o 'clock P. I. the public hearing was opened on the -proposal to
amend the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold by changing
from ."A" .Agr. icultural and R sidential District to "B" Business District
on a parcel of land at Arshamomaque . The Supervisor read the call of
the hearing.. He then recessed the hearing for 15 minutes . The hearing
was reconvened at 2:30 P.M. The Supervisor called upon any person'pres-
ent vAno wished to spead either for or against the proposal to -amend the
Building Zone Ordinance ofyi the aforesaid parcel or land. There was no
response in favor of or against the proposal..

Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
WHEREAS, a petition wasi--heretofore filed with the Town Board of the
Town of Southold by Perry E. Bendicksen, requesting a change , Modif-
ication and amendment of the Building Zone Ordinance including the
Building Zone Maps made a part thereof, by changing from "A" Agricult-
ural and Residential District the property in said petition, and
WHEr'EAS, said petition was duly referred to the Planning Board for
its investigation, recommendation and report, and thereafter, a
public hearing in relation to said petition having been duly held by
the Town Board on the 25th day of February, 1958, and due deliberation
having been had thereon,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the relief demanded in said
petition be , and it hereby is denied.

Demarest and Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the probationary appointment of Robert M. Hulse,
Harold D. Winters , William P. Boken, Robert E. Walden and Barney
P. Harris as Police Patrolmaen (Constables) of the Town of Southold
be changed to permanent appointments , and that the compensation of
said appointees be increased from $14.00 to $15.00 per diem, with the
exception of Barney P. Harris Payable in regular bi-weekly payments
effective as of March 15, 195A.

Demarest; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Councilman Demarest:
RESOLVED: That the compensation of Henry F. Santacroce as police
Patrolman (Constable) of the Town of Southold be and hereby is
increased from $15.00 to $16.62 per diem, payable in regular bi-weekly
payments effective as of March i5, 1958.

Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby. is authorized
to enter into a lease with the Department of the Army for the use of
the airfield, including tht hangar building 251+ and buildings T-365 and
127, located at Fort H. G. Wright, Fishers Island, New York, for a
term of one year beginning Jan. 1, 1958 and ending Dec. 31, 1958, in
the amount of Twelve Dollars U12.00) per annum, payable, in advance.

WHEREAS, a petition was received from Paradise Shores Association Inc. ,
relative to an Open Devel®pement Area under- the provisions of Section
280-A of the Town Taw of the State of New Yrk
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Towon Glerk of the Town of
Southold be and he hereby is directed to transmit this application
to the Planning Board in accordance with Section 901, Subdivision C
of .Article lk of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold,
Suffolk County, New Yoi-k.

Moved by Justice Clark seconded by Councilman Albertson;
WHEREAS , It is the desire of this Board upon its own motion to amend
the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That there be referred to the Planning
Board of the Town of Southold for its recommendation and official report
the proposal to amend the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold.

WHEREAS , the•; Chief of Police has recommended the purchase of new 1958
Police cars to replace four police cars presently owned by the Town, and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to have bids submitted for, the purchase of
four new 1958 police cars , the cost of which shall include a trade-in
allowance on four police cars presently owned by the Town and also to
have bids submitted. for the purchase 'of five new 1958 police cars ,
the cost of which shall include a trade-iri `allowance on. four police
cars presently owned by the Town,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That this Board invite sealed proposals
to be submitted to it until 2:00 o 'clobk in the afternoon on the 25th
day of March, 1958, at .the Supervisor's Office, 16 South At. , Greenport ,
N.Y, for the purchase of police cars as aforesaid, and that the Town
Clerk be and he hereby is directed to prepare, with the assistance of
the Town Attorney, proper notices calling for such bids , .,and cause
the same to be published in due form in the Long Island Traveler-
Mattituck Watchman, the -official paper of the Town.
