Klipp, Supervisor, be and he hereby is authorized to act as Public Welfare Officer at the pleasure of the Town Board and be it further RESOLVED: That Norman L. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: WHEREAS , It is required by Section 148 of the Education;Law that a local Historian shall be appointed by the Supervisor of a Town, and WHEREAS ; That Supervisor has appointed Wayland Jefferson to act as Town' Historian, Nor , therefore, be it RESOLVED: That Wayland Jefferson be compensated while acting in such capacity in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per year , payable in regular monthly payments , and be it further RESOLVED: That the expenses incurred per year by the Town Historian in the performance of his duties be paid by the Town in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($1 50.00) per year, and be it further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certificate with the proper parties as is required by Section 30, Subdivision 3 , of the Town Law. WHEREAS , It is required that an enforcement officer be appointed for the multiple Resident Law and a Building Inspector be appointed for the enforcement of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that Howard M. Terry be and he hereby is' appointed enforcement officer for both the Multiple R-sid6nt Law and the siad Building Zone Ordinance for a term of one year, commencing January 1, 1958, and expiring on December 31, 1958, and, be it further RESOLVED, That the total salary for both positions: be and hereby is fixed at the sum of Three Hundred Seventy-five Dmllars ($375.00) per month , pay- able in regular monthly payments during said term, and be it further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certificate with the proper parties as is required by Section 30, Subdivision 3 , of the Town Law. Terry, enforcement officer for the Multiple R„sidelit Law and Building Zone Ordinance be compensated for travel expense necessarily and actually incurred in carryAng out the duties of his office and that he be further compensated for the use of his own automobile when used to carry out the duties of his office at a rate not exceeding eight cents ($ .08) per mile. Moved by Councilman Demarest: seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS, It is required by Section 27, Subdivision 1, If the Town Law that the Town Board fix the salaries of all town appointed officers or employees , now, therefore , be it RESOLVED: That the salaries of the members of the Board of Appeals Town of Southold, be and hereby are fixed at $h500.00 per year with the exception of the Chairman of the Board of Appeals whose salary be and hereby is fixed at $600.00 per year, and be it further RESOLVED: That the members of the Board of Appeals and the Chairman of the Board of Appeals be paid these salaries for them respective offices and that these salaries be paid in regular monthly payments , and �e it further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certif- icate with the proper parties as is required by Section 30, Subdivision 3 of the Town Law. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest and Justices Tuthill and Clark. 484 Moved. by Justice Clark; seconded By Councilman Albertson: WHEREAS , Section 61+ of the Town Law requires the Town Board to designate by resolution banks of this State in which the Supervisor or any other officer of the Town Shall deposit all monies coming into their hands by virtue of their officeq , and WHEREAS , That Town Board may require any Bank so d&signated to deposit with such Board the Bonds or Certificates of the United States of the State of New York or any County, Town, City, Village or School District of the State of New York as security for such funds so deposited but such bonds or certifi- cates shall be subject to the approval of the Town Board and shall be deposit- ed in such place and held under such conditions as the Town Board may determ- ine , and now therfore be it RESOLVED: That the following banks of the Town bedandrhereby are designated as depositories for all monies of the Town, and be it further RESOLVED: That the amount of security herein set forth for each respective bank be and hereby is approved: - First National Bank of Greenport Greenport, N.Y. $130,000. Moved byCouncilman .Albertson; seconded by Jsutice Clark: WHEREAS, Section 62 of the Town Law requires that every Town Board shall meet on or after the 28th day of December, but not later than the 31st day of December , in each year, and WHEREAS, There is no tther time specified by law when meetings of the Town Board of a Second Class Town should be held, now therefore be it RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and hereby is empowered to call all meetings of the Town Board as may be required for the best interest of the Town, and be it further RESOLVED: That the Supervisor designate Tue 4ay as the day of the week for calling such meetings , and be it further RESOLVED: That each member of the Town Board be given at least 2 days notice in advance of such meetings , notice to contain the time and place where such meeting is to be held. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Jsutice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Assessors of the Town of Southold who use their own automobiles in the performance of their duties for the Town will be compen- sated for the use of such automobiles in an amount not to exceed Eight Cents ($ .08) per mile. Moved by Councilman "lbertson; seconded by justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Long Island Traveler-Mattituck Watchman, Southold, New York, be and hereby is designated as the official newspaper to publish the notice of the Receiver of Taxes that he is in receipt of such tax and assessment roll and warrants , and that the taxes and assessments therein may be paid to the Receiver at the times and with penalty other than his principal office when and where he will attend for the receipt of taxes and assess- ments in accordance with Section 22 of the Suffolk county Tax Act , and all other legal not&ces as may be necessary and required in accordance wihh Section 64, Subdivision 11 of the Town Law. Within sixty (60) days after the close of the fiscal year the Treasurer of each Firs District shall file in the office mf the Town Clerk and the State Comptroller a financial statement setting forth in detail the receipts and expenditures of the Fire District for the previous year. (Section 181 of the Town Law) . 485 On or before the 15th day of January in each year the Commissioners of each Improvement District shall file with the Town Clerk a financial report for the preceding year. (Section 215, Subdiv.9, of the Town Law) . The Town Clerk should advise the Tov,n Board as to existing contracts , for lighting , garbage collection, fire protection, water supply, and also leases of any property rented by the Town, and specify the date of expiration of such contracts . (Section 64, Subdivision 2 and 19, Section 1839 194 and 198, Subdiv. 6 and 7, 8 and 9 of the Town Law) . The Town Clerk should supply to the executive Secretary of the Associat- ion of Towns at the Hotel TenEyck, Albany, New York, a correct list of the names and addresses of all Town Officers and the Supervisor should advise the members that he , the Town Clerk, Justices of the Peace , Superintendent of Highways , Assessors , Welfare Officer, and the Town Attorney will receive copies of meetings , bulletins , issued by the Town and 0ounty Officers Training School on subjects of interest and import- ance to various officers . AMENDMENT ## 10 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that after a Public Hearing held pursuant to the requirements of law, the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk •County, New York, was duly amended at a regular meeting of the Town Board held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport New York, on December 30, 1957, by rescinding and repealing Section 901 of said ordinance , and substituting therefor the following: SECTION 901:-"The Town Board by Resolution adopted at a stated meeting shall fix the time and place of a public hearing on the proposed amend- ment and cause notice thereof to be given pursuant to the provisions of the Toi�.in Law. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Albertson; WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Department of Audit and Control that the Superintendent of Highways should have Town Board approval by resolutio of all purch9ses from the Machinery Fund, NOW, THEEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That hhe Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold be and he hereby is authorized to purchase any piece of equipment or any part thereof at a cost not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) from January 79 1958 to January 1 , 1959. Moved by Councilman Demarest; secondedby Justice Tuthill: WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold did on the 7th day of January, 1958, recommend a pay increase for all employees of the Highway Department, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the rate of pay for all employees of the highway Department as recommended by the Superintendent of Highways be approved. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, a request was .received from Thomas Flurry of lst St. , New ^Suffolk to drive a well point within the highway area across the street from his home , now therefore be it RESOLVED: That said request be granted with the understanding that all work will be done in such a manner as to protect the Town of Southold from all liability due to such work, Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilmen Albertson and Demarest and Justices Tuthill and Clark.
