HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-11/07/1957 489 MEETING OF NOVEMBER 7, 1957.. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Thursday, November 7, 1957. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest; Superinten- dent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine claims against the Town concluding the Audit work at 2:00 o 'clock P.M. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the reading of the minutes of October 29 be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1957, at 1:30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Coucnilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: WHEREAS, the Southold Town Planning Board has prepared an official report and recommendation upon the petition of James Wasson for a change of zone from "A" Residential and Agriculture District to "B" Business District, on certain real property situate at Mattituck, Town of South- old, New York, and the petition of Jack Levin and Arthur Levin for a change of zone from "A" Residential and .Agricultural District, to "BIR Business District on certain real property situate at Greenport, out- side ofithe Incorporated Village of Greenport, Town of Southold, New York, and the petition of Arthur Mehl for a change of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business District on certain real property situate at Cutchggue, Town of Southold, New York, and the petition of Angelo Petrucci and Georgette Petrucci for a change of zone from "A" Residential and A,,ricultural District 'to "B" Business District on certain real property situate at Cutchogge , Town of South- old, New York.. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held by the Southold Town Board at the Town 6lerk's Office at Southold, on Thursday, December 5, 1957, at 7 P.M. on the proposal of James Wasson, Jack Levin, Arthur Levin, Artur and Georgette Petrucci and .Arthur Mehl for change of zone. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS , the recommendation of the P lanning Board on the petition of Nelson E. Axien and petitioners relative to change of zone from "C" industrial District to "A" REsidential and Agricultural District, be and hereby is denied by the Town Board,; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is authorized tnd directed to return to Mr. Axien the $25.00 fee which accompanied the petition. Vote of Town Board-. -Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest; WHEREAS, the petition of Ursual Sledtieski and Lawrence Waitz, relative to change of zone was denied by the Planning Board, the case was re- ferred to the Board of Appeals who held a hearing for Variance. Variance was denied but an agreement was reached whereby necessary psxxx rooms would be attached to present dwelling and the Building Inspector was ordered to issue necessary permit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp bue and he hereby is authorized and directed to return to Robert W. Tasker the $25.00 fee which accompanied the petition. Vote of Town Board: Byes-Supervisor Klipp; Coucnilman .Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. .440 Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Harold Price, .Superintendent of Highways be and he hereby is authorized to advertise for and purchase from the lowest bidder a certain number of tires. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Harold. Price, Superintendent of Highways , be and he here- by is authorized to advertise for and purchase from the lowest bidder one Fling Sand Spreader for use on the highways act .Fishers Island. Vote of Town Board: Ayres-Supervisor Klipp; Coucnilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Gen/eral Bills in the amount of $4,983.67; Lighting District Bills in the amount of $1,627.1 5; Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the amount of $32,076.02 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Gouncilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the annual Highway estimates and budget of the Town of Southold for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1958, pursuant to Section 141 and 267 of the Highway Law and Section 111, 112 and 113 of the Town Law be and hereby are approved, and be it further RESOLVED: That one copy be delivered to the Supervisor for presentment by him to the Board of Supervisors . Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Coucnilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman .Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the Police R-port for the month of October be approved any the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice TuthiLL: RESOLVED: Charles H. Rotteveel of Southold be and he hereby is appointed School Traffic Officer to direct tradfic at the intersection of Oaklawn Avenue and Route 25, Southold , New York, at a salary of $6. 50 per day for each school dyy worked, effective as of November 12, 1957, he to serve at the pleasure of the Town Board. Vote of T own Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Irving M. Rogers , of Greenport, Mary Ann Zito, of Fishers Island , Ralph Cox, of Mattituck, and Norman Pemberton, of Southold, be and they are hereby appointed Dog Enumerators for the Town. of Southold for the year 1958. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest. The Town Board canvassed the ballot cast for the Library appropriations in the General Election of November 5, 1957. The vote was as follows: Yes- 1357 No- 689. The proposition to appropriate toe sum of $179500.00 annually for the support of the Public Libraries of Southold Town for the fiscal years 1958-1959, was declared passed. 4 4^'1 RESOLUTION OF TOWN BOARD ADOPTING ANNUAL BUDGET WITHOUT AMENDMENT Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: WHEREAS, ThA Town Board of the Town of Southold has met at the tihme and place specified in the notice of public hearing on the preliminary budget and heard all persons desiring to be heard thereon; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold does hereby adopt such preliminary budget as originally com- piled, as the annual budget of this Town for the fiscal year beginning on the 1st day of January, 1958, and that sucb[ budget as so adopted be enterd in detail in the minutes of the proceedings of this Town Board, and be it .further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of the Town of Southold shall prepare and certify, in duplicate, copies of said annual budget as adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Southold together with the estimates , if any, adopted pursuant to Section 0-a , subd. 2, of the Town Late and deliver one copy thereof to the Supervisor of this Town to be pre- sented by him to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Suffolk.
