HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-09/06/1957 MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 6, 1957. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Friday, Sept. 6, 1957. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine claims against the Town doncluding the Audit work at 2100 o'clock P.M. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the reading of the minutes of August 6, 1957, be and hereby are duly approved as. read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark; RESOLVED:, That the reading of the miuntes of August 14, 19579 be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson: Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Coucnilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the reading of the minutes of August 20, 1957, be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Coucnilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman A lbertson; SLconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the reading of the minutes of August 29, 1957, be and hereby. are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That a meeting of the Town Board will be held a t the office of Supervisor Klipp at Greenport, on Wednesday, September 11, 1957, at 7:00 o 'clock P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Coucncilman .Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Harold Price, Superintendent of Highways received a communication from the Rev. Lawrence B. Jones , Vicat of the Church of the REdeamer, at Mattituck, requesting the construction of a sidewalk on the east side of-,,Westphalia Avenue between Pike Street and Sound Avenue in Mattit uck. Moved by Justice Tuthill- seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That Harold Price, Superintendent of Highways , Town of South- old, be and he hereby is authorized to construct a sidewalk on th4 east side of Westphalia Avenue between Pike Street and Sound Avenue in Mattituck. Vote of Town Board: .Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: WHEREAS , considerable uncertainty has existed as to the propriety of the Seal of the Town currently in use , and WHEREAS , the Town Board of the Town of Southold, after due deliber- ation, and by and with the advice and consent of the Town Historian, has concluded that the following embossed design is the original seal used by the Town. , NOW THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved that the Official Town Seal shail be the following device herein impressed upon the records , effective October 1, 1957. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albe-rtsofti Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. 2 Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the Police Rgport for the month of .August be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Coucnilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Dema.rest.- " Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Councilman Albertson; , RESOLVED: That Elwood A . Racket of East Marion, N.Y. be and he hereby is appointed School Traffic Officer to direct traffic at the East Marion School crossing, at a salary of $5. 50 per day for each school day worked , effective as of September 3 , 1957, he to serve at the pleasure of the Town Board. Vote of Town Board: Ayres-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson• seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Bond No. SM 176199-2, issued by the American Motorists _ Insurance Company in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) on behalf of Edward Stanley Brush, be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution, and sufficiency of sureties therein. Vote of Town Board: A yes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman .Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by. Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Bond No. SM178188-2, issued by the American Motorists Insurance Company in the sum of Fiue Hundred Dollars ($500.00) on behalf of Harry W. Smith, be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution, and sufficiency of surities therein. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Coucnilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest; RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $6,073 .61; Lighting District Bills in the amount of $1,457.1 5; Fishers Island Ferry Distr.icYq Bills in the amount of $26, 586.76, be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
