MEETING OF AUGUST 20, 19.57.
The Annual Fishers Island Meeting of the Southold Town Board was
held on Wednesday, August 20, 1957. The meeting was held in the
auditorium of the Fishers Island High School and was called to
order by Supervisor Klipp at 1:30 P.M. with the following present:
Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices. Tuthill, Clark,,
Demarest and Edwards; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney
Terry and Town Clerk Booth, also officials of the State, County and
Town and guests and a delegation of Fishers Island residents.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting
be and hereby are dispensed with.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson;
Justices Tuthill, Clark Demarest and Edwards .
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Albertson;
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will
be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport,
on Friday, Sept. 69 1957, at 1:30 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson;
Justices Tuthill, Clark, Demarest and Edwards.
Supervisor Klipp inquired if there were any problems the Fih.hers Is.
people would like to discuss. Mrs. Andrews asked if,�somethtng_'could
be done to eliminate the amount of litter that is thrown on the
streets . The Supervisor suggested that the people contact the con-
stable and he get in touch with the litterbugs and have them clean
up the letter. Mrs. Andrews also stated that the ragweed along the
sides of the roads should be cut as people that have hayfever suffer
from the pollen of ragweed. Mr. Price stated he would have Mr. Horn
cut the weeds. Mr. Williamson of the mosquito Commission stated that
a spray for ragweed would be effective. Mr. H.L. Ferguson stated that
there was a rock on the south side of Oriental Avenue at the inter-
section of Peninsula Road which is a great hazard to traffic and
should be removed. Justice Edwards was instructed to procure a
danger sign and erect it near the rock if it is not on private prop-
erty. One way street signs posted on trees and poles were discussed.
Mr. Price stated they should be removed. The Supervisor stated if;,"
they would send a request to the Town Board and let them know what
is required in the form of signs , the Town 2man Board would give
the matter full consideration. He also stated he would write to
the State Traffic Commission and inquire what orders have been issued
as to traffic signs on Fishers Island.
The meeting was recessed at 3:00 P.M. . The Board left Fishers Island
at 4:45 P.M. and the meeting was reconvened on board "The Striper';

WHEREAS , the Southold Town Planning Board has prepared an official
report and recommendation 11pon the petition of Robert H. Preston alid
LaGrant Chapman for change of zone from "A" Residential and Agric-
ultural District to "B" Business District certain- real property sit-
uate near the Village of Greenport,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held
by the Southold Town Board at the Supervisor 's Office in Greenport,
on Wednesday, September 11, 1957, at 7 o 'clock P.M. on the proposal
of Robert H. Preston and LaGrant Chapman for a change of zone from
"A" Residential and .Agricultural District to "B" Business District.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Coucnilman A lbertson;
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest.

WHEREAS, the Southold 3-own Planning Board has prepared an official
report and recommendation upon the petition of Cove Beach Estates ,
Inc. for change of zone from "A" Residential and Agricultural District
to "B" Business District certain real property situate at East Marion,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held
by the Southold Town Board at the Supervisor 's Office in Greenport,
on Wednesday, September 11, 1957, at 7 o'clock P.M. on the proposal
of Cove Beach Estates , Inc. for a change of zone from "A" Residential
and Agricultural District to "B" Business District.
Vote of Town Board: .Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson;
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest.

Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Councilman Albertson;
RESOLVED: That William E. Way of Peconic, N.Y. be and he hereby is
appointed School Traffic Officer to direct traffic .at the East Cutch-
ogue School crossing, at a salary of $5. 50 per day for each school
day worked, effective as of September 4, 1957, he to serve at 6he
pleasure of the Town Board.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; 6ouncilman Albertson;
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest.

.AMENDMENT NO. 6
WHEREAS, the Southold Town Planning Board has prepared an official
report and recommendation upon the Petition of Peter Blank and Sons
to amend the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk
County, New Y rk, by excepting certain subdivision lots from certain
applicable provisions of said Ordinance , and
WHEREAS, the T6wn Board, after due consideration of the matter,
decided tt was in the public interest to call a hearing pursuant to
the provisions of the Town Law and said Ordinance , and
WHEREAS, such hearing was held (pursuant to notice duly given)
at a meeting of the Town Board at the office of the Supervisor, 16
South Street, Greenport, N.Y. , on August 149 1957, at 7:00 P.M. at
which time all persons desiring to be heard in favor of said amendment
and also all those desiring to be heard in opposition thereto were
given opportunity and were heard, and thereafter the public hearing
was closed and decision reserved;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN BOARD that the Building
Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New YRrk, be,
amended by adding thereto the following:
SECTIUON 1013 -EXCEPTIONS AS TO CERTAIN SUBDIVISION LOTS-
(a) ALL of the lots on a certain map entitled "Map of Marion Manor" ,
situated at East Marion, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New -Y,)rk,
filed in Suffolk County Clerk's Office on March 18, 1953 , as Map No.
2038, shall be excepted from the provisions of Section 303 herein;
As to Lots numbered one (1) through (5) on said map, the sideyard
requirements shall be reduced to ten (10) feet on each side; and as to
lots numbered thirty-three (33) through forty-seven (47) on said map,
the setback lines and rear yard requirements shall each be reduced
to twenty (20) feet, and it is
FURTHER RESOLVED: that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is authorized
and directed to give the necessary notice of such changes in zoning
to the departments and agencies having jurisdiction in the matter.
