HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-07/30/1957 MEETING OF JULY 30, 1957• The- Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, July 309 1957. The meeting was cilled to order at -1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, and Demarest; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town -Clerk Booth. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the minutes of July 9 be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the minutes of- July 24 be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, - on Tuesday, August 6, 1957, ' at 1:30 P.M. Vote- of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Mouncilman Albertson;, Justices Tuthill and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: WHEREAS, the property of Fred Young at Arshamomaque, Town of Southold, was inadvertently zoned as "A" R'sidential and Agricultural District when it was intended that it be zoned as "B" Business District, and WHEREAS, the Board has concluded that Mr. Young should not be required to pay the $25.00 fee to .accomplish the correction, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is authorized %� and directed to return to Mr. Young , the $25.00 fee which accompanied the petition. Vote of Town Board:Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Albertson; RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is author- ized to contribute the sum of $100.00 to the North Fork Publicity Committee to help defray the expense of advertising Southold Town in Booklets. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seoonded by Justice Demarest: : RESOLVED: That effective as of August 3 , 1957, the salaries of Police Patrolman (Constables) James P. Kelly, Henry Y. King, James Fitzpatrick Edward S. Brush, Harry Smith, Henry B. Faucon, Joseph H. Sawicki be and hereby are increased from $13.85 to 416.62 per dieuand=the salary of Police Patrolman (Constable) Henry"-F:--Santa�c-rao-e be and hereby is incresed from $12. 50 to $1 5.00 per dieu. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill and Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest• seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Bond No. 5A7032, issued by the Travelers Indemnity Co. on behalf. of Wilff'ed C. Sinclair, in the sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution and sufficiency of sureties therein. Vote of Town Board: Ay es-Supervisor Klipp; ounclman xlbertson; Justices Tuthill, add Demarest. 4 4 Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman -Albertson; WHEREAS, a communication was received from the residents of Mattituck requesting that a NO PARKING zone be established ,on the north side of Route 25 in the vicinity of Mattituck, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor recommend to the New York State Department of Public Works that a NO PARKING zone be estab- lished on the north side of Route 25 in the vicinity of Mattituck ex- tending 50 feet from the east side of Wickham Ave. Vote of Town Board: A yes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill and Demarest. DonalddFredericks and Herbert Rosenberg appeared before the Town Board in regard to the condition of the Trailer Camp of Jonathon Overton on Terry Lane in Southold. They expressed the desire that the camp bq required to comply with the Trailer Camp Ordinance and the Board indic- ated the intention to amend. the or.dinance.The Town Attorney was ,instruct- ed to prepare a proposed amendment. Hon. L. Barron Hill appeared before the Board complaining about the condition of Wells Avenue in Southold. He stated that the road was damaged by farm machinery and that the dust and dirt blew in the direction of his property, which was very unpleasant at times and wanted to know if something cotild be done to stop it. Councilman Albertson stated that he would take the matter up with Charles Grigonis , the owner of the farm land and see if he would discontinue using the road for a head land to turn his machinery on. Supt. Price stated he would have the road oiled. Adjourmment was a .4:30 P.M. Rglph P. Booth Town Clerk
