MEETING OF MAY 79 1957.
The Southold Town Board met al the office of Supervisor Norman
E. Klipp at Greenport , on Tuesday, May 7P 1957. The meeting was
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor
Klipp;-- Counc-ilman A.lbe.rtson;.. Justi.ces • T.uthill, Clark and Demarest;
Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims
against the Town concluding the audit work at 2 o 'clock P.M.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: _,
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby
are duly approved as read .
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson:
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest..
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board will be
held at the office of Supervisor Klipp at Greenport , on Tuesday,
May 21, 1957 at 1:30 P.M. o 'clock.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman xlbertson;
Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest.
Moved by Councilman .Albertson; seconded .by Justice Demarest:
RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp , Supervisor , be authorized to advise
the State Insurance Fund that the Town of Southold elects to place
the following officers under the coverage of the New York State
Compensation Law: all members being members of the Southold Town
Planning Board: John Wickham, Harold R. Reeve, Sr. , Charles F.
VanDuzer, .Alfred R. Grebe, Henry F. Moisa .
Vote of the Toren Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson;
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest.
Moved by Councilman .Albertson; sedonded by Justice Demarest:
RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor, be authorized to advise
the State Insurance Fund that the Town of Southold elects to place
the following officers under coverage of the New York State Compen-
sation Law: all officers being members of the Southold Town Appeal
Board: Robert W. Gillespie , Jr. , Robert L. Bergen, Herbert Rosenberg,
Charles Grigonis , Jr. , Serge J. Doyen, Jr .

Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest.

RESOLVED: That .Alfred R. Grebe of Fishers Island , New York, be and
hereby is appointed a member of the Southold Town Planning Board,
to serve until April 30, 1962.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Counnilman Albertson;
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Councilman Albertson:
. RESOLVED: That Henry F. Moisa of Orient , New York, be and hereby
is appointed a member of the Southold Town Planning Board until April
30, 196o, to fill the unexpired term of Robert W. Gillispie, Jr.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson:
Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Albertson:
RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold approves the
action of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District on
entering into a contract with the interstate Navigation Company
for the charter of the M/V Yankee for a period from April 29, 1957,
to May 39 1957, with the option of extending the period.

RESOLVED: That the street lighting contract between the Town of
Southold and the Long Island Lighting Company covering the Southold
Lighting District , effective July 8, 1957 fora term of one year of
service and thereafter until terminated by--30 days written notice by
either party be and the same is hereby "approved by the. Town Board.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson;
Justices Tuthill,. Clark and Beamrest.

Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the street lighting contract between the Town of
Southold and the Long Island Lighting Company covering the Orient
Lighting District effective July 1, 1957, for a term of one year of
service and thereafter until terminated by 30 days written notice by
either paryy, be and the same is hereby approved by the Town Board`;
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest:
WHEREAS, a letter was received from Theodore B. Howard, sergeant
of the Southold Town Police Force requesting to be transferred from
the Southold 'own Police Force to the Greenport Police D^partment ,
effective as of May 15, 1957, be it
RESOLVED: That the letter be laid on the table for later consideration.

Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest.
A communication was received from the Commissioners of the Orient
Fire -District requesting a traffic light to be placed at the inter-
sectmon of Toute 25 and Village Lane.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp , Supervisor , be authorized to contact
the New York Depart: ,ent of Public Works and request that a traffic �
light be installed tt the intersection of State Highway Route 25
and Village Lane.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson;
justices Tuthill, Clark and Demmrest.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of .$3 ,278.08, Lighting
District Bills in the amount of $1, 596.09, Fishers Island Ferry
District Bills in the amount of $7,732.37, be and the same are here-
by ordered paid.

Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest.

RESOLVED: That the Police Report for the month of April be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on file.

Moved by Supt . of Highways Price; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That inasmuch asihe repuired dedication and release have
been duly received , map of same duly filed and the necessary papers
signed , the Town Board take over and maintain as public highways ,
CEDAR ROAD and CASES LANE, situated at Cutchogue , in the Town of
Southold , New Y,rk.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson;
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest; and
'Superintendent of Highways Price.
