HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-04/23/1957 MEETING OF APRIL 23 , 1957. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, April 23 , 1957. The meeting was called to order at 1:30, P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest; Supt. of Highways Price; Town .Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the minutes of April 9th and April 19th be and here- by are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; , . Justices Tuthill , Clark and Demarest' . Moved by Councilman Albertson,; seconded by Justice• Clark: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport., , : on Tuesday, May 7, 1957, at 1:30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-$upervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices 'Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. At 2 o 'clock P.M. in accordance 'with a notice published according to law, bids were opened for• proposals for furnishing to the Town of Southold two new 1957 2-door 8 cylinder standard model auto- mobiles for use as police cars . The following bids were., submi,tte.d: Greenport Auto Sales- Two 8 cylinder Ford autos at a total cost of $4,146.00. Trade-in allowance •$•1446.00. Delivery price- $2700.00 -delivered ,at the Police Depart- ment in 45 days . Island Motors- Two 8 cylinder- Ford Autos at a cost of $2,000.00 Crabtree-O 'Keefe - Two 8 cyl'in.de`r Chevrolet .Autos at a total cost of $4632.00- less Federal Yax of $270.90. Trade-in allowance $2396.00. Delivery price - $1965.10, delivered at the Polkice Department in 4 to 6- weeks . Cutchogue .Auto Sales- Two 8 cylinder Ford .Autos at a total cost of $4570.00. Trade-in allowance $2920.00. Delivery price $16 50.00, delivered at the Police Department in 30 days . Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the bids be placed in the hands of the Police Committee for their consideration and report back later at this meeting. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: WHEREAS , the Police Committee reported that the lowest bid was submitted by the Cutchogue .Auto Sales , now therefore , be it RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp , Supervisor, be and he hereby is directed to enter into a contract with the Cutchogue Auto Sales for purchase of two new 1957, 2-door sedan standard model 8-cylinder automobiles at a price of $19650.00 delivered at the Police Depart ment in 30 days. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest and Councilman Albertson. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RES.OLVED: . That -the probationary appointment of Frank E. Bondarchuk and Henry F. Santacroce as Police Patrolman (Constables) of the Town of Southold ,, be changed to permanent appointments and that the com- - pensation of said appointees be increased from $11.00 to $12. 50 per diem, payable in regular bi-weekly payments effective as of April 27, 1957. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Superv&sor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. An incitation was received from the Memorial Day Committee of the Griswold-Terry-Glover Post of the American Legion, cordially inviting the Town Board to be' present at the Parade and ceremonies which will be held at Southold, on Memorial Day, May 309. 1957. Parade will assemble at 10:30 A. M. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: WHEREAS , Section 93 of the Railroad Law of the State of New York provides in pertinent part that when a highway crosses a railroad by an overhead bridge , the framework of the bridge and its abut- ments shall be maintained and kept in repair by the railroad corp- oration, and WHEREAS , it appears that the overhead bridge on Bridge Lane in the Town of Southold. has not been properly maintained and kept in repair by the railroad corporation, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Supervisor of the Town of Southold be and he hereby is directed to notify the proper officials of the Long Island Railroad of such inadequate maintenance and to request that they take such steps as may be necessary in order to properly insure the safety and security of the travelling public.
